mum appreciation post 👯‍♀️ she’s going back to China tomorrow so she’s currently meal prepping the biggest batch of food for us including niangao, zhajiangmian, and suancai pork blood 🥺 since the last time she visited 1 year ago, im proud of 2 things that we influenced each other on: my Chinese cooking improvement, but more importantly, her regular gym attendance. At first she was resistant to strength training because it was too “manly.” today, she excitedly told me she can now hold a squat and stand up from a squat position with ease compared to before. she’s no longer embarrassed to wear shorts because she visibly gained tighter muscle in her legs (and arms too), so she bought more gym shorts. now who’s the proud mom? 🥹 taken in Orange County Mining Co. by @ren.awayy

What’s crazier: hosting an outdoor games party in the rain or grown adults actually showing up to play in the rain? 😆 From getting hit in the face with a dodge ball, to slipping and sliding in wet grass trying to get to the safe zone in capture the flag, to tossing water balloons while already being soaked, it was such a fun way to close out my 20s and I can’t thank everyone enough from the bottom of my heart for being there for it. ❤️

p.s. go Team Yellow forever!! (aka winnerzzz 🏆) great job to Team Blue though it was truly neck and neck.

I was honestly this close to canceling the party when I first learned about the rain. Of all the days that LA could rain, it had to be the 1 day I planned on throwing a bday party after so long. It was either reschedule last minute and pray people show up, or compromise on the theme I really wanted to do and go the normal indoor party route. I’m thankful to @theperiwinkler for being such a great sounding board and helping me see a 3rd solution, which is holding it rain or shine because maybe getting wet is not the worst thing in the world after all. It might just add to the experience!

One big thing I’ve taken away from my 20s is learning to be ok when things don’t go perfectly to plan, and accepting that despite how organized/planned/detail-oriented I am, I can also be someone who can get their passport & backpack stolen/lost abroad (twice now 🙃) and that is okay because nobody is perfect. I’m grateful to have such a wonderful partner in @ryho.dp who has been a punching bag for my lowest moments but also the one who helped me evolve and grow in this crazy journey called life 🤪 To many more fun and hopefully still some childish years ahead! by @ren.awayy

Dear Grandpa, I’m so grateful to have said goodbye (3 times now because you have been so resilient!) while you were still able to know it’s me. I know we haven’t been able to be in each others lives much since you’re all the way across the globe, but I still feel fortunate and close each time we do meet ❤️ You’re probably walking on strong with your cane as usual up above now so say hi to grandma for me!!

Thank you to @ryho.dp for those lovely up close shots of gramps from our 2024 trip. So glad you were able to meet him at least once! And shoutout to my fam in China who loves making AI photos (can you tell which ones were AI? 🤭) by @ren.awayy
