So, here’s the thing….
Put me on a set with a client and I’ll pull out all the stops.
Heel back ashy? I got you.
Loose thread hanging? Baby I have an entire sewing kit in my pocket.
Steamed , taped, nipped, tucked and plucked- you’re safe in my care 😆.

I shine behind the camera.

BUT in front of the camera? Now, that’s a whole
different story.

When @ladybugthealchemist told me about her plans for a Y2K/ early 2000’s nostalgia shoot, I immediately thought it was a great idea… until she said she wanted me in the shots 🫣
That’s when my nervous system went into full protection mode. Everything in me said “NOPE!”

Thing is… on a random Wednesday afternoon, you might catch me grocery shopping as the flyest chick you’ve ever seen.
I’m confident in my element.
…BUT the thought of posing for a camera, being “studied” and maybe judged freaked me the eff out.

After doing the shoot, I walked away with two reminders:

1. Give yourself permission to be everything all at once.
Putting yourself out there is scary but rewarding. Most of my fear came from worrying about what others might think — “Who does she think she is?” “That’s so cringe!” But once I let go of that, I felt free. And I deserve that.

2. My clients feel this too.
Nipping, tucking and plucking is great, but this reminded me that the same way I had to will myself through the nerves, my clients might have those same doubts on set. I need to save them that little extra care.
