Today marks 11 years since we lost my Pup, Riley. 💔 That statement above really strikes hard for me this year.

So much has changed since Pup has been in heaven.

I’ve seen his sister, Randi work through her pain and I am thankful I see peace in her eyes now. 🙏 Seeing her so happy makes my heart happy, for sure. I have been blessed by my amazing husband who has stood by me from day one… I’ve seen Rileys friends and family grow and have families of their own. Now in the middle of raising their babies and all that goes with that. I love seeing what great parents they all are. 💚 I have also seen family members that have passed away, and some that are fighting for their lives to stay healthy. 🙏 I’ve met so many Fire Academy students that know me as “Riley’s Mom”, which shows they did hear Riley’s story, deeply. I have also changed. Trying everyday to make a difference to try to keep what Riley did from happening to anyone else. But I do know, it still happens way too often. It’s still so hard to believe my Pup is gone.

Bottom line, eleven years ago today, I would have never thought I’d be able to move forward in this crazy life. God has carried me every single day. Moving forward is something we all need to do, but I will never move on from loving my sweet boy. Riley will always be a part of me and our story. But man! I sure miss that sweet Pup.❤️🥹🙏🪶

One day, I’ll see my boy again. Until then Live Life! #yourlifematters

Such a great trip to Chicago, Milwaukee, Cedarburg, and Rhinelander, WI, to celebrate Randi and Josh, and see where Josh is from. Then on to New York Mills Minnesota to see Bryan, Megan and Willem. Always love spending time with family! ❤️ Beautiful country all around! 🤗 by @reneeredingross

Congratulations to the WolfforthFire Academy Class 38.
I was honored to present the Riley Reding Memorial Scholarship to Kaden Valdez. I can’t see where God leads you and the rest of this amazing class.

So thankful I am still able to share Riley’s story with the future first responders.

Every time I share my Pups story, it takes me back. But it is also something I will do as long as I feel like it’s making a difference. 🥹🙏

Congratulations to the South Plains College 25-26 Fire Academy Class! I was blessed to be able to give Isaac Perkins the Riley Reding Memorial Scholarship! God has big plans for each and every one of those students! Always remember to Pray hard, Dream big, and Live life you guys! So proud of this amazing young lady! I first met Kim when I was her third grade teacher. It was my first year teaching at Frenship and I had just had my first baby, Randi.
Not long after that I found out I was pregnant with my Riley. I remember Kim as a smart, funny, curly headed and determined young lady! Watching her grow into an amazing young lady, coach, and now Children’s Author, has been amazing.
But when she mentioned me, as “Mrs. Riley” in her book and also remembered challenging me to a race, but I couldn’t because I was pregnant, made my heart so happy. For her to remember those details, and to honor me and my Riley in her book…. Priceless.
I’m so thankful for all the students I taught and I’m thankful to watch them grow and become amazing adults. Thank you Kim! You’re a true blessing! Love you! by @reneeredingross

For all of you that go to church and are a believer, do you find yourself in tears a lot of the time? Especially during the worship music time?
It usually always happens to me. I love worship music, but something about being in a church, just brings me closer to God.

I know that’s not everyone’s experience, and I do understand how some people have been hurt by “the church”. I have been hurt by the church, as well. Actually, at times, since we lost my pup, Riley I was hurt by everything…. even God. 😔
But I am thankful that God never left me and continues to carry me every day.
I know for a fact if, I would have continued to be angry and resentful at God and the church, I would not be the person I am today.

So maybe that’s why I tear up when I’m at church. Maybe that’s why my heart gets a little bit stronger when I’m at church. I am so thankful for the life I have and the people I have in my life.

Happy heavenly birthday to my Pup❤️ Today you would have been 32. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss your beautiful smile, sweet laugh, and funny wit. I wonder everyday what your life would have been like here on earth if things would have been different.

That’s the hardest part about this kind of grief—the why’s, the what if’s, the questions that will never be answered on this side of heaven. Those are the things that can pull me down, and I don’t want to stay in that place.

But here is what I hold onto: I will love you forever. And I will do my best to honor the life you lived and the love you poured into so many.

I’m thankful to be lead by a God that knows my heart and has guided me the last ten years to take a leap of faith and continue to share my Pup with others who are walking this crazy, but beautiful life. I have been truly blessed by people who have reached out to me to share their story, or share the encouragement that Riley’s story has brought to them. All I want to do is let you know that God has big plans for you and that your life matters more than you will ever know.

You may meet someone today and say something to them that will change their life forever, and not even know it. So for my Pups birthday today, I’m asking you to just be kind to everyone you see. One little gesture could save someone’s life. You never know, but God does🙏❤️
