I’m coming…clean. ☔️ They say don’t meet your idols, so I didn’t, but finally seeing the girl whose first album was my safe place when my mom was first getting sick healed something in me, and on my mom’s birthday no less! happy deathday, mom. ❧

Friday marked 17 years since my mom died. I wanted to share these images from the last photos we ever took together. (TW: Images of a sickly, dying parent).

What started as a caption turned into a deeply personal essay about her sickness, our dynamic, and the story behind this final roll of film. You can see all the photos and read the full piece on my Substack (link in bio lol).

35✨there was a boy, a very strange enchanted boy. they say he wandered very far, very far, over land and sea. a little shy and sad of eye, but very wise was he. and then one day—a magic day day he passed my way—and while we spoke of many things, fools and kings, this he said to me, “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” sharing one of my all-time favorite song lyrics and what i often call a conversation i’ve had of myself with myself. i hope everyone can find a moment for themselves today, as mars comes home to aries, and reflect on the final line in this song. peace is possible if we all just loved a little more. in the meantime, here’s some photos from this past weekend with a few folks whom i love to the stars and back. happy #renapril ⭐️ taken in Joshua Tree, California by @renepetersson
