A year ago I was close to dying in the hospital. During a simple surgery I contracted a bacteria leading to a severe infection that almost claimed my life. But I’m a fighter. Always have been. A stubborn Capricorn with no gene pool for failure. During the worst days I never lost hope and cried only once when I saw my blood results. By the next morning I was back in fighter mode. God has shown me half of the world already, I knew he would not stop half way, but now the ball was in my court. I had to pull myself together with every cell in my body.
It hasn’t been an easy year. In fact it was one of the toughest. A true struggle towards recovery. Going back to work soon after hospital was not easy. Getting up 5:30 am, driving an hour to physical therapy then hour back to work. Returning home late, just to sleep. Hearing about all of the restrictions was breaking my spirit, but ultimately did not break me.
Beside me, like an iron wall, stood an army of family and friends. Without their unconditional support perhaps my story would be written differently. Instead, it is written with gratitude, gratitude for my brand new chance in life. Everything is new again. Enjoying every new morning, birds singing in my garden, the sent of orange blossoms outside, a strong, ink like cup of coffee.. Nothing is taken for granted, it never was. I realize my Parents had a lot of pull all the way from Heaven.
While my body is recovering remarkably well, my head is taking a bit longer, stubborn, as expected for a Capricorn’s mind. Hopefully these two will synchronize soon. Wish me luck and send positive vibes my way as I need them to continue with my recovery.
Thank you Jamie @_obsessed.hair_ for working me in to your busy day and a fresh look. My blond highlights are now toned down and I’m ready for the fall season. Do you like it?

🌿𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐚𝐝, 𝐧𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐬.
𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐚𝐊𝐞 𝐭𝐚 𝐊𝐲 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧🌱

This fresh basil was grown right in my backyard — homegrown, chemical-free, and cultivated with love. 💚

But this isn’t really about basil. It’s about 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞.

You don’t need acres of land or a huge vegetable garden to start. Start with 𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐟 𝐲𝐚𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬🌿

That one little plant can be your first step toward 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲. Even if it gets you just 1% closer.

I’m passionate about creating edible spaces in urban surroundings. Backyards, balconies, patios, containers, windowsills
there are so many ways to grow 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬, 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐊𝐞.

And personally, I’ll always choose 𝐬𝐚𝐊𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐰 that requires heavy chemical treatments just to stay green.

🌱 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐚𝐝, 𝐧𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐬. 🌿

Let’s grow more green.
Let’s grow more edible.
Let’s grow more of our own.

You don’t have to do everything. Just start with one plant.

Salmon Lake, Montana — the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. 🌅💧

Come with me and see where I spent my first night camping in Montana.

Nature is my reset button.

Whenever work gets too loud, I’ve talked to too many people, my mind feels overstimulated, or there’s something I need to process, I run to nature.

It slows everything down. It gives my thoughts room to breathe. It brings me back to myself.

Montana feels like the perfect place to disappear into nature for a while—to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with myself.

And while Montana is known for its mountains, the Montana lakes are just as beautiful.

This is Salmon Lake: crystal-clear water, colorful rocks you can see all the way to the bottom, mountains and trees surrounding the lake, gentle waves created by a passing boat, and that warm orange-yellow sunset glowing across the horizon.

It was one of those moments where everything felt quiet.

Nature has always been my healer, my detox, and my way of clearing the noise, organizing my thoughts, and finding my way back to myself.

And yes
I took a bath in a different Montana lake every day. 😂💧

Let’s just say the water was beautiful, but VERY cold. 🥶

Montana, you were the perfect reset for my mind—the much-needed rest and space I was craving. 🏔💙

After spending my days surrounded by people, conversations, and constant noise, I needed somewhere that felt quiet, wide open, and untouched.

And now I understand why Montana is called Big Sky Country.

Here, the only thing that seems to interrupt the view of the sky is the trees. No skyscrapers. No city skyline. No walls of buildings. Just mountains, rivers, trees, and lakes filled with the most beautiful stones in an incredible array of natural colors— blues, reds, oranges, greys, burgundies, and so many shades in between.

Here, nature painted a beautiful palette of colors. 🎚

Then came the Montana sunsets that stopped me in my tracks, and night skies filled with more stars than I could count. ✹
There’s something about being surrounded by that much nature and that little noise that makes everything inside you get a little quieter.

No crowds. No rush. Just mountains, water, trees, sky, and space to breathe.

This Montana escape was more than a trip. It was a chance to step away from the constant energy of everyday life, rest my mind, and reconnect with something simple and beautiful.

Maybe that’s the magic of Big Sky Country. 🀍

Montana, thank you for the peace, the beauty, and the room to breathe.

Be honest: would you rather have a night in the city or a back road in the middle of nowhere with nothing but mountains, stars, and silence? 🏙✚🏔

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐎 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬! ☕🇲🇳

I had no idea 𝐔𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐊 — from international and Korean coffee brands to Mongolian cafés, local coffee brands, independent coffee shops and specialty coffee roasters.

And the 𝐔𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞 is seriously impressive. The cafés are clean, beautifully designed, modern and cozy.
I stopped at 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 & 𝐁𝐚𝐀𝐞𝐫𝐲 and

This was definitely one of the things I didn’t expect to discover while traveling through 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚.

Seeing these prayer wheels again in Ulaanbaatar brought back memories of 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭, where I first encountered them.

Walking through Gandan Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most important Tibetan Buddhist centers, I was reminded of the many monasteries I visited during my travels through Tibet.

In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, prayer wheels contain sacred mantras, often 𝘖𝘮 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘗𝘢𝘥𝘮𝘊 𝘏𝘶𝘮. Turning them is a form of prayer and devotion, with the intention of spreading the blessings and prayers they contain.

As I walked clockwise around the monastery—a practice known as 𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐚, or circumambulation—I turned the prayer wheels clockwise as well. Traditionally, this keeps the sacred object on your right as you move around it.

There was something incredibly calming about the simple rhythm of walking, turning each prayer wheel, hearing the gentle sound of the bells, and slowly moving through the monastery.

It’s one of those travel experiences that doesn’t require you to understand everything to feel something.

Sometimes you just slow down, listen, and take it in. 🪷

‹The smell of butter lamps burning inside Buddhist monasteries in Tibet is something I never forget—and visiting Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, brought it all back. 🕯

In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, butter lamps symbolize the light of wisdom—the light that dispels darkness, ignorance, and confusion. There is something incredibly powerful about seeing these small flames glowing inside a dim monastery, surrounded by that distinct collective sound—the low hum of prayers, pilgrims’ footsteps across the floor, and the quiet movement of people through the sacred space.

The smell of butter burning, the incense, the darkness, the flickering light, and that unmistakable soundscape can feel almost surreal.

I’ve traveled many times through Tibetan land and visited Buddhist monasteries across Tibet, so being at Gandan Monastery felt strangely familiar—like stepping back into a world I have carried with me for years.

Gandan Monastery is one of Mongolia’s most important Buddhist centers and is deeply connected to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition that has profoundly influenced Mongolian culture.

Standing there among the butter lamps, watching the flames flicker in the darkness, I was reminded that sometimes travel isn’t about discovering something completely new.

Sometimes it’s about finding something familiar in a place you never expected.

🔥WHAT $1.25 GETS YOU AFTER MIDNIGHT IN MONGOLIA 🇲🇳

Walking through Ulaanbaatar after midnight, I wanted a little snack
and let’s be honest, most of the places still open are the 24/7 fast-food joints. 🌙🍟

But here’s a surprise: at КелеМЎе, I can still get kimchi and seaweed salad. 🥢🥬

Who says late-night food has to mean fries and fried chicken? 😏

I actually love having the option to grab something light, salty, crunchy, and a little healthier when those after-midnight cravings hit.

If you’re walking around Ulaanbaatar late at night and looking for a 24/7 food spot, save this place for your next craving. 📍

Would you choose kimchi & seaweed after midnight, or are you going straight for the fries? 👀

Walk with me through the magnificent 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 — one of the most important centers of Mongolian Buddhism.

Take a look at all the incredible details inside. There’s so much 𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐝, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐭 throughout this historic Tibetan Buddhist monastery.

But here’s something you might not expect: 𝐬𝐚𝐊𝐞 𝐚𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐊 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 — 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐊. 🧈

I first became familiar with Tibetan butter offerings when I was in Tibet, and I was fascinated to see this tradition here in Mongolia as well.

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐬? 👀
And what about the 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞? 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐚𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞?

𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐊𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐚𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐊𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬!
And if you know more about the butter offerings, Mongolian Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhist traditions, or any of the sculptures and figures you see, please share — I’d love to learn from you!

The Hidden Stories of Gandan Monastery 🇲🇳

My last reel about Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar sparked so many beautiful conversations — thank you to everyone who shared your knowledge, stories, and insights with me 🙏

I love learning together and discovering the many layers of history, culture, and spirituality connected to this incredible Buddhist monastery.

In this reel, I’m sharing a look inside Gandan Monastery and its magnificent Migjid Janraisig statue — known in Tibetan Buddhism as Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. This incredible statue is one of the largest Buddhist statues in Mongolia and a powerful symbol of compassion and devotion.
The conversations around Tibetan Buddhism in Mongolia and Mongolian Buddhist traditions have been fascinating, and I would love to continue learning from this amazing community.

Do you have an interesting fact, story, tradition, or piece of history connected to Gandan Monastery, Chenrezig, Tibetan Buddhism, or Buddhism in Mongolia? Share it with me in the comments — I’d love to learn from you.
