Final day of the Letters To Deja exhibition, and the Atlanta Voice article that was delayed because of the recent snow event here in Atlanta finally hit the shelves. Better late than never I suppose. Huge thank you to the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Fulton County Arts & Culture for having the vision to host Saturdays opening, and to all 23 artists for the incredible work in the show. It really is a beautiful offering!
Thank you to everyone who came out — it was a great night despite a random lightening storm outside which only added to the electricity.
Special thanks to the late Gail Foster, Dr. Lori Grant, Pasheena Eaton, Tae Jackson, Mark Karelson and Tisha Smith. This show would've been so much harder to pull off without them.

Skeletons Become Children
Exhibition Statement

Skeletons Become Children brings together some of Atlanta’s most compelling artists in conversation with one of the oldest texts we have: the Egyptian Book of the Dead, also known as the Book of Coming Forth By Day. Each artist has chosen a select text from this ancient manuscript as a starting point - a spark for something entirely new. What emerges is both a tribute to the artists’ own creative depth and a resurrection of sorts, an old text finding new breath through themes of rebirth and transformation,
Curated by rEN Dillard, the exhibition sits deliberately at the meeting point of past and present, life and death. Each finished artwork hangs beside the page of the Book of the Dead that inspired it, so the ancient text and its modern answer speak to each other directly. Every piece carries the artist’s own history and perspective, and together they form something emotionally layered - an experience meant to be felt as much as seen:
Identity and the eternal cycle of life and death run through the heart of this show. Each artist brings their own lens to these ideas, weaving together the weight of history with the pulse of the present Visitors are invited into that dialogue a chance to encounter ancient belief reimagined through contemporary hands, and to leave with a deeper sense of where the two meet. by @rensworkdotcomshop

At a time when almost everything is inundated with AI, twenty-three artist each pulled a passage from the Egyptian Book of the Dead and answered it with new work — ancient scripture and contemporary art, hung side by side, speaking across 3,000 years.
