One ESPN sync placement paid Deraj as much as a live show, with zero travel. That's the moment sync licensing stopped being theory and became his career.

Been quiet for a minute. But we’ve been building.

This idea has lived in my head and my heart for a long time. A space made specifically for indie artists who are doing it their way, with no apology. I didn’t want to rush it. I wanted to do it right and do it justice!

Also I brought in my homie @itsfrankbentley to cohost thing thang!. A longtime friend who I’ve made music with, navigated sync licensing with, and grown alongside as an independent artist. Two Florida boys who love this culture and see what’s missing in the conversation around it. Together we’re The Neue.Indie Podcast and this is what it means to us.

And tomorrow we’re going live on IG to talk more about it 2pm est. Come through!

Before you blame the industry or jump ship, ask the hard one: are the songs actually good enough? If the music is the product, it has to check the boxes for the fans and brands on the other side.

In the early streaming years discovery was new and 100k streams came easy. That novelty has worn off. The artists who last are the ones who accept the game changed and learn to pivot.

Around 100,000 songs hit streaming every single day, and nearly half are now AI. In an ocean that flooded, the only question that matters is what makes you stand apart.

His ad team said change the creative and the landing pages. His gut said that wasn't the problem, so he switched to an application-style funnel instead, and conversions jumped. Gut, backed by data.

Before you decide it's not working, write down everything you tried, how long you actually did it, and what you measured. He gave each move a six-month window. That's how you tell effort from excuse.

Chasing the money kept him climbing a ladder his heart wasn't in. When he put his eggs in the basket he actually cared about and got good at the craft, the money finally followed.

He thought the show would be a layup. Instead the crowd was flat, the energy was gone, and standing there he realized something in the plan had to change. That night led him independent.

"I've tried everything" usually means you tried a dozen things and quit each one two weeks in. The artists who win are the ones who stayed.

Walking around thinking about what could happen is like running nine tabs on a laptop. Plan the year, close the tabs, and your creativity gets the whole processor.
