REP-010 is the XXV Anniversary pressing of Box the Compass - Run The Easting Down. First numbered pressing of 100. Box the Compass were a diy melodic hXc punk band from San Francisco active from 1999-2002. The band was Akko, Chris, Jeremy, and Lamar (and sometimes Taka), all transplants to SF from the U.S. East Coast and Tokyo, Japan. Former members of early/mid 90’s punk, metal, and hXc bands, they set out to make heavy and melodic music with heavy lyrical themes. The band booked and played 200 shows, until August 2002, when TheTiteOne, a 1977 Chevy tour van, burned to the ground. They reunited for one show in May of 2026 with long-time co-conspirators Endzweck at Bush Bash in Tokyo to celebrate the re-release of Run the Easting Down. In 2022 while restoring/archiving the original Box the Compass - Run the Easting Down 2” tape reels, Jack Shirley of The Atomic Garden uncovered Chris’s missing vocals and the missing track Sample Poetic not included on the original release. by @repeaterrecords

Funeral Diner – The Underdark I caught FD toward the end of their run in the 2000s, and you could just tell they were incredibly special. The music was heavy and beautiful in a way that completely makes you reflect. Going back to it now brings this sudden realization that the world is not the same place it was when I first discovered this record. As a Half Moon Bay screamo/hardcore band from the late nineties and early 2000s, they basically defined the sound of that entire era. Between The Underdark and their relentless output of splits, they set a benchmark. You can hear their DNA in so much of the music coming out right now, whether the bands playing it trace it back to them or not. Knowing Seth from the band also co-owns @repeaterrecords is a huge reason why we always thought that label was so vital. We are still transitioning our record store side over to Rite Field, but you will start seeing copies of this, along with the current Repeater Records catalog, at the shop soon! by @repeaterrecords
