Since being sworn in, we’ve brought home more than $65 million for Minnesota’s 5th District 💪🏽

This year alone, our office secured $10.8 million for 14 critical local projects.

The right to due process is a cornerstone of our legal system. It doesn’t matter what your immigration status is — you have rights under our Constitution, and you should know what they are in the event that it becomes necessary.

Make sure you are prepared. Make a family plan, contact a lawyer in advance, and memorize at least one emergency phone number. by @repilhan

✨Highlights from my first week back in Congress (January 3-10)✨

1. I began my 4th term serving the people of Minnesota's 5th district, joining my colleagues for the swearing-in ceremony.
2. I participated in the Joint Session to Count Electoral Votes. 🗳️
3. I was also deeply honored to attend President Jimmy Carter's funeral service.
4. Back home in Minnesota, I hit the ground running. I joined the building and construction trades at their Annual Breakfast. 🛠️
5. Later, I hosted an immigration strategy session in Minneapolis, hearing directly from community members about protecting our immigrant families and neighbors.
6. I had a productive coffee meeting with Crystal's new Mayor Julie Deshler to discuss ways we can work together to support our shared community. ☕️
7. I wrapped up the week by presenting Dr. Rachel Hardeman with a Congressional Record entry submitted in her honor last year. This recognition celebrates her inclusion on TIME's 100 Most Influential People of 2024 list. 📜 by @repilhan

We lost two beautiful children at Annunciation Catholic School. Since the horrific attack, parents from the Annunciation Light Alliance have been organizing to end gun violence.

We sat down to discuss legislative solutions to prevent this kind of loss and trauma from happening again. by @repilhan

From DC to Minnesota, here’s how I was working for you this week:

1. I spoke out at a hearing on ICE’s reckless use of deadly force in Minnesota and across the country. We were joined by the family members of Renée Good, a witness to the killing of Alex Pretti, and others impacted by ICE’s horrific actions. The victims’ families and our communities deserve justice, starting with real accountability.

2. It was incredible to tour Southern Anoka Community Assistance’s new facility in Columbia Heights. I was proud to secure $1 million in federal funding for the construction of this facility, and I’ll keep working to fight hunger in our community.

3. I toured the Indian Health Board’s new clinic, Menaandawiwe Wellness Campus, in Minneapolis. The Indian Health Board serves nearly 5,000 community members—this expansion will only broaden their ability to care for our neighbors.

4. We gathered and hosted an event for the Fifth District’s amazing Latine leaders in celebration of Latine Heritage Month at Maya Cuisine in Minneapolis.

5. I sat down with University of Minnesota student government leaders Fatima Aden and Izaan Rana to get an update on students’ priorities as they kick off a new school year.

6. I met with community members from the local chapter of J Street to discuss their priorities and how we can work together to best support Minnesota’s Jewish community.

7. Last year, our community lost two beautiful children at Annunciation Catholic School. Since the horrific attack, parents from the Annunciation Light Alliance have been organizing to end gun violence. I was able to welcome these parents to my District Office to learn more about their work to ensure no other community has to experience this kind of loss and trauma.

8. I wrapped up my week by joining Fridley Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Lewis and Assistant Superintendent Rochelle Cox for their Superintendent Tailgate, where I got a tour of the newly remodeled Fridley Public Schools Athletic Stadium. by @repilhan

Incredible to spend time with students at PICA Head Start’s Donald M. Fraser Early Childhood Family Development Center in Minneapolis.

PICA serves more than 350 Minnesota families with critical early childhood and family development services. But Republicans’ proposed cuts to Head Start could make it harder for programs like this to give kids the support they need.

We wrapped up another busy week in Washington. Here’s how I was working for you:

1. This week on the House Budget Committee, we passed two bipartisan bills to give Congress more information when making budgetary decisions. I was proud to vote yes on both commonsense bills because when government has better data, we can make better decisions to support the health and economic well-being of all our communities.

2. I introduced my Make ICE Pay Act to force ICE to pay the price for the devastating damage they caused our state through “Operation Metro Surge.” My bill would take ICE’s $140 billion budget and redirect it towards local recovery efforts in communities hit hardest by ICE’s cruel immigration raids and operations.

3. It was my honor to receive the Trailblazer Award from SEIU, Color of Change, and Community Change Action. I’ll keep working in Congress to invest in our Black, Brown, and Immigrant communities, and ensure our workers are ensured the protections they deserve.

4. I was proud to honor the life and legacy of Minnesota State Rep. Karen Clark on the House Floor. Rep. Clark was an incredible trailblazer who dedicated her life to fighting for justice and equity for all Minnesotans. Her impact will be felt by Minnesotans for generations to come.

5. I was thrilled to see my provision in the Water Resources Development Act pass the House! My provision will protect the stability of the historic Mississippi waterfront in Minneapolis and ensure this sacred site will be here for generations to come. I’ll keep working to protect our critical natural resources in the Fifth District.

6. Once again, I voted to pass a War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s reckless and deadly war in Iran. The American people have been clear: they are sick and tired of bankrolling Trump’s atrocities abroad. It’s time to end the war. by @repilhan
