Here! I come to you with updates!
.
.
It’s been a long summer, and past few months. The summer flew by so quickly, I think I went to the lake maybe twice? Maybe? We are almost at 200 units sold??! Woah. I got to making this summer, dialing in forms, dialing in glazes and did lots of problem solving (lol ifykyk). Nothing makes me happier than doing this work, even if all my friends question my sanity 🫣🫪
.
.
These are just a few of my in progress shots! Enjoy both finished products and the beautiful new molds I received!! Adding mugs to the product list has been so so much fun :)
.
.
I love ceramics, I love clay. I wish to never give it up ever!!!

TTYL I’m Raku firing
.
.
Thank you to @lulu_sbardellati for spawning this fantastic idea of Raku firing with @saicceramics and @lowres_saic . It was a perfect end to July and the perfect day to learn!
.
.
This firing was beyond efficient with just a couple adjustments from the firing at northwestern- which is beyond awesome!! This thing is a rocket and I truly love a good ol weed burner.

Busy Season!!
.
.
Production pottery is not for the weak, but this past month production for @filtrarecoffee has been more than just a job. It’s been a genuine joy. We dropped mugs, more pour over options, and so much more so soon. I have learned so much, and none of this would be possible without the help of @lulu_sbardellati and @pinkwaterab
.
.
Also included is some personal work that I found quite fun, thinking about the ways femininity exposes itself through design. Much like the lines I use to draw bodies, why not use them to draw attention to other forms of feminine body.
.
.
Stay till the end for a surprise!!

From the top; “Juliet & Juliet”, “Star Crossed Lovers”, “Dance under the stars with me…for once” 2026.
.
.
I was thinking of the classic Romeo and Juliet trope, how to pervert it, change it, see it slightly differently. The star crossed lovers trope and the performative action of love. I really like this set and I love the shape and handle- so I think we have a winner!! See this winner @amdurproductions Southport Art Fest! This weekend!!

7/11-7/12, 10-7 and 10-6! Near the Music Box Theater!!

Meet the Artist🏺 @repottery_

Rachel “Ranch” Ward is a Chicago based ceramic artist who prefers to be busy and hates idle hands.

Ranch currently works as an Instructional Facility Manager of Ceramics at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They love throwing, casting, Handbuilding, and more! They focus primarily on the fem and non-binary body and portrait, distorting line with the form of the vessel.

When they aren’t making, they’re usually in front of a kiln trying not to electrocute themselves or they are on the CTA knitting like a madman. by @repottery_

“Who I was and Who I am” 2026
.
.
.
I’m so excited to be showing this @NCECA along side the beautiful potters with @chitownpotters. Every year NCECA rolls around and it always takes me by surprise how much of a community ceramics and pottery create. I am so excited to see all my long time friends all in once place for a beautiful 4 day conference!
.
.
This piece was inspired by recent life feelings. Feeling like I’m going through changes in my relationships and life and are aligning slowly with who I think I should be. The piece represents the slight misalignment that is still present but may never go away. It also represents the fear, the grotesque feeling of change. Why am I so scared of change? Why am I so scared to be different than who I thought I was?

Introducing @filtrarecoffee. A super special project I’ve been working on with some really incredible, creative and kind people. This has been in the works for little over a year, only those closest to me know of what a process this has been. I am so happy to announce it- finally! ❤️❤️
.
.
I feel so proud that an object like this is going out into the world that’s made by an artist who’s supported by a community of artists. Thank you to all who have helped me problem solve, fire, house, test and create these objects. It feels good to be introducing this to you all!! Check them out! ❤️

Flesh and Form by Rachel “Ranch” Ward is on display in the Lillstreet Lounge Gallery Dec. 1st through Dec. 31st.

✨Flesh and Form is a collection of slip-cast mugs that explores the tension between the human body and the constraints it faces in everyday life. The forms subtly references parts of the body while simultaneously commenting on the mold-like expectations sociaty imposes on us. The illustrations work in tandem with the form to explore the feeling of conformity and restriction. The flesh and form of our everyday experiences imposed upon functional work."
