FACT: Abortion pill reversal isn't a real thing. ◀️

West Virginia lawmakers want to pass SB 805 to ensure that abortion pill reversal is funded despite the lack of evidence that shows that it even works.

The @acog_org put out a statement against the claim that a medication abortion can be reversed, noting that the "facts are important" and "politicians should never mandate treatments or require that physicians tell patients inaccurate information."

The WV Senate just passed a bill to that targets providers and out of state organizations from mailing abortion pills (mifepristone and misoprostol), so it's clear that their stance is widely against abortion care.

SB 805 will go to the Senate Finance Committee next for consideration. WV folks can contact their senator to voice their concerns against this harmful bill by using the handy email guide from @wvfree

SB 173 wants to ban abortion pills by mail in West Virginia!

Call your senators and let them know abortion is safe, effective and should be up to the individual, not the government.

In a state that ranks one of the lowest in education and healthcare in the nation, lawmakers are wasting their time on abortion which we know is safe, common and widely supported.

In case you didn't know, mifepristone is safe! 👈

Today the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee will hold a hearing to discuss the safety of medication abortion.

Despite ongoing lawsuits and political pressure from opponents to reduce access to mifepristone over the years, the science continues to show it is safe.

Here's what we know:

⭐They’re used in over half of abortions in the U.S.
⭐Abortion pills use lead to fewer hospitalizations than Tylenol and Viagra.
⭐Mifepristone pills are even sold over the counter in many countries abroad.

💅The science backs it up! A new JAMA study reviewing over 5,000 pages of internal F.D.A. documents (2011–2023) found that the agency’s decisions on mifepristone almost always followed evidence-based recommendations from its scientists.
