21 guys tell us if they think today’s dating scene is harder for men or for women and why. Yes, some of these answers are wack. As always, we’ll hear the ladies’ perspective next!

While of course there are challenges for both, a Forbes Health survey noted that 63% of men feel drained or invisible and frustration has led 47% to take extended breaks from dating altogether. Pew Research data shows that 64% of men feel insecure from a lack of dating app matches.

Overall, 91% of men and 94% of women say dating is harder than ever, with over half of all daters reporting severe emotional fatigue and widespread “ghosting”. taken in Austin, Texas by @repruski

I asked 18 women ages 23-32 about the first non-appearance thing they notice when they meet a guy.

Several themes emerged, including eight responses of “how they treat others”, five responses of “engagement in conversation,” and four responses of “assertiveness.”

I asked 14 of my guy friends What is the first non-appearance thing you notice about a girl when you meet her?

I think this is a valuable question because it confronts the pervasive lie that guys only care about physical traits. In reality, much of how others perceive you is entirely in your control. Common themes were eye contact, posture, and openness.

Q4 recap - unrelated, but I journaled a lot this year. Highly recommend answering four questions daily:

1) What is one thing I am grateful for?
2) What is one thing I learned?
3) What is one thing I did well?
4) What is one thing I will do better tomorrow?

Also, handwriting, as opposed to typing, engages more neural networks, or connectivity across brain regions, especially those relating to creativity and memory. taken in Austin, Texas by @repruski
