The Rashid Kidwai WASH Finance Award recognises @repurpose_global in the Enterprise Finance category for its India Impact Portfolio - Verified Plastic Recovery (VPR) Financing.
Since 2019, rePurpose Global has channelled outcome-linked capital to plastic recovery enterprises across India, connecting financing directly to verified plastic recovery rather than conventional debt structures. With close to USD 5 million deployed in India and more than 32 million kg of plastic recovered, the model demonstrates how innovative finance can strengthen waste-management enterprises while driving measurable environmental and social impact. As the link between solid waste management and climate action becomes increasingly critical, models like these point towards new pathways for financing a circular economy.

It’s Zero Waste Week, so let’s talk about it.

Zero waste doesn’t mean zero. It never did. It’s about building systems where things get used again instead of thrown out.

Most of that conversation is about buying less and buying better. But that doesn’t help the plastic that’s already out there. It has to be brought back.
