Pesto was diagnosed with luxating patellas— essentially his knees move out of their sockets in both his hind legs. It’s painful, he will soon be on pain meds (but for how long will that help?). He was diagnosed a few weeks ago, but I haven’t had the heart to post about him or start fundraising. The vet says there’s no other way to help him, he absolutely needs surgery in both legs. It is heartbreaking to watch him limp around. He’s just a baby, only 10 months and has been in my care since he was 12 weeks.

Nothing I can do for him except hope and pray we raise enough to get him a surgical consult with an orthopedic surgeon (estimated to cost $200-300) then schedule surgery (estimated to cost $1.5k-5k PER LEG). One hospital told us he won’t be able to have a consult or surgery till 2024! Can you imagine watching baby boy limp around like this till then??!! 😭 Watching him struggle to keep up with his sister during playtime is SO painful. He can’t go on like this, his condition will only get worse. Pesto needs your help. Please donate to get him this much needed surgery (links in my stories and bio, Venmo or PayPal Bkrescue ). Sweet boy Christopher is about 10. I found him in rough shape—clearly he was dumped by his owner. Though his background story is a mystery, his friendliness towards humans indicates he belonged to someone at some point.

He has a heart murmur, advanced dental disease and is FIV+. He also has a cauliflower ear: left ear ears is crinkled due to an untreated hematoma. The crinkled part makes it impossible for him to clean his ear, which makes him susceptible to ear infections. He has already been treated twice for them.

Despite being abandoned by his people Christopher is an affectionate boy, shows no distrust towards humans. In spite of not feeling well, he asks for pets and meows if you leave his side. He is very gentle and as soon as he trusts you he becomes your best friend. He is very chill, loves to get cozy and purr nonstop.

The vet reported that needs an echocardiogram for evaluation of the murmur, several teeth extractions, and an ultrasound to find ulcers or tumors in his digestive tract. The vet ran extensive blood work, but will repeat this in a week. They suspect Christopher isn’t eating because painful ulcers in his digestive tract are bleeding and causing him to be nauseous and weak. Bottom line: he has been in pain for some time and needs your help. Please consider supporting his treatment with a donation.

We learned that he has a heart murmur, advanced dental disease and tested positive for FIV. He also has a cauliflower ear: his left ear ears is crinkled due to an untreated hematoma. The crinkled part makes it impossible for him to clean his ear, which makes him susceptible to ear infections. He has already been treated twice for them.

Plants aren’t the only things popping into existence right now as the weather warms up. Rescuers are getting overwhelmed with incoming kittens and moms! Please consider opening your home to a cat in need so rescuers can care for the many incoming kittens. You would be saving many lives and prevent much suffering! We had a tough night. She hates the cone, but has been caught chewing on her stitches, so it stays. We can’t take our eyes off her for a minute, she either finds a way out of the cone or tries to get to her stitches through the cone or picks at Pesto’s stitches. And of course the sedatives from surgery didn’t even slow these two down. They were wrestling and jumping around all night. I just want to get through the next few days without any incidents 😣
