Theory of Change Thursday: Breaking Negative Feedback Loops Some of the most important lessons in disaster response come from the hardest moments. After the twin earthquakes in Venezuela this June, rescue crews and neighbors searching for loved ones would pause and ask for silence, listening for anyone still alive beneath the rubble. We continue to hold the families who lost people in those days, and the communities still rebuilding. Those moments of silence reminded us of something. Fossil fuel generators are loud. They burn fuel, pollute the air, and feed the climate crisis that makes disasters worse. Relief that adds new problems to a crisis is a negative feedback loop. Breaking those loops is one of the core beliefs behind our work. Aid should never cause more harm than it heals. That means rethinking fossil fuel infrastructure in climate disasters. It means not expecting traditional super-capitalism to solve the problems it created. Solar and battery power runs much quieter and cleaner. In 2025, our systems helped avoid 8,036 gallons of gas in disaster response operations. We keep learning, and we keep working toward relief that leaves communities stronger. #TheoryOfChangeThursday #AlwaysBeCharging #DisasterResponse #BuildBackGreener by @rescueresponseinternational

Being committed to rebuilding a country isn’t just about making donations; it’s also about supporting its local economy and infrastructure. Our partners at @water_mission understand this perfectly, which is why they work with local businesses to make their daily drinking water deliveries happen 🙌🇻🇪 Every day, a water truck heads to one of the two production and distribution sites 💧 to load up on safe drinking water. From there, it sets out to refill water tanks installed all across La Guaira, running on-site tests along the way to ensure the water meets all national safety and quality standards 📈 This entire process is made possible by financial support from @statedept, along with our consortium’s ongoing commitment to give our absolute best every step of the way on this mission 🤝 #aguapotable #aguasegura #sistemawash #ayudahumanitaria #respuestahumanitariavenezuela taken in La Guaira . The unseen engine that makes saving thousands of lives possible... When you see aid arriving in a disaster zone, you’re really just seeing the tip of the iceberg 🚚📦 Behind that moment is an entire team working around the clock ⏳ Relief organizations work in phases to ensure the ongoing well-being of those affected 🤝 Each phase is tied to a specific project, and every project is driven by specialists dedicated to sourcing, delivering, and monitoring the aid 👩🏼‍💻 It’s an entire system that makes the seemingly impossible, possible. Our ability to carry out every single one of these phases is all thanks to the financial support of @statedept 🙌 #respuestahumanitaria #ayudahumanitaria #venezuelanearthquakeresponse #internationalong #rescueresponseinternational by @rescueresponseinternational

Hoy es el día interamericano del agua💧 un día donde recordamos la importancia del agua potable para la salud, el desarrollo sostenible y la prevención de enfermedades 🦠 Por eso junto con nuestros socios @water_mission queremos enseñarte cómo se hacen las pruebas cloración en los puntos de agua potable que establecieron por toda la guaira 📍🗺️ Estos puntos se recargan de agua y se les evalua el nivel de cloro todos los días con estos simples pasos👆En Venezuela, el agua potable debe contener una concentración de cloro residual libre de entre 0,3 y 0,5 miligramos por litro (mg/L), por eso se realizan estas pruebas de forma diaria, para garantizar que el agua que estamos brindado sea segura y de calidad 🙌 Hacer que cientos de personas consuman agua potable de manera digna en los lugares afectados es posible gracias al financiamiento de @usembassyve agradecemos el apoyo que hemos recibido desde el inicio porque así podemos llegar a más personas que lo necesitan 🇻🇪 🇺🇸 Today is Inter-American Water Day 💧 a day to reflect on how vital clean water is for public health, sustainable development, and disease prevention 🦠 That’s why, alongside our partners at @water_mission we want to show you how residual chlorine testing is done across the safe water stations established throughout La Guaira 📍🗺️ These stations are refilled daily, and their chlorine levels are tested every single day using a few simple steps 👆 In Venezuela, drinking water must maintain a free residual chlorine level between 0.3 and 0.5 mg/L. Daily testing ensures that the water we provide remains safe, clean, and high-quality 🙌 Providing hundreds of people with dignified access to safe drinking water in disaster-affected areas is made possible through funding from @statedept We are deeply grateful for their support from day one, which allows us to reach even more families in need 🇻🇪 #aguapotable #aguasegura #sistemawash #diadelagua #diainteramericanodelagua taken in La Guaira by @rescueresponseinternational

🔧🌞⚡ TECH TUESDAY: What Can a Solar System Power? From phones to refrigerators, medical equipment, water pumps, and even event sound systems, the answer depends on one big thing: how much energy you have available and how you use it. Important Note: Remember that energy is different from power. Energy is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and used when defining the size of a battery and how much energy it can store! Our mobile solar systems come in different sizes for different jobs: 🔋 1.5kWh Portable Unit: Great for essentials like laptops, fans, lights, satellite internet, and device charging. 🔋 4kWh Portable Unit: More stored energy for larger loads, including refrigeration, CPAP machines, mobility-device charging, lights, power tool batteries, and everyday electronics. ☀️ 20kWh Solar Trailer: Built for bigger operations. Think refrigeration, communications, lighting, shower trailers, device charging, and other equipment for community resilience hubs. 🎶 The same trailer can also power sound and lighting for events, depending on system configuration and energy demands. ⚡ 28kWh Mobile Palletized Unit: Designed for heavier loads like well pumps, commercial refrigeration, portable A/Cs, coffee makers, microwaves, device charging, lighting, and expandable battery storage. The big takeaway? Solar isn’t just about how many panels you have. Battery capacity, available sunlight, and the wattage and runtime of everything plugged in all work together to determine what a system can support. In disaster response, that means matching the right system to the right need, whether that’s keeping the lights on, protecting food and medicine, powering communications, or keeping a community resilience hub operational. This is especially true when the sun is down and you’re relying on whatever’s left in the battery! (The examples in this graphic are illustrative. Actual runtime and available power will vary based on equipment wattage, usage, battery charge, solar conditions, and which loads are operating at the same time.) #TechTuesday #SolarPower #MobileSolar #CleanEnergy #BuildBackGreener by @rescueresponseinternational
