🐾 Hi, I’m Jess — welcome to this page 🐾I created this account to shine a light on rescue dogs in the Charlotte area who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.Rescue has always been part of my life. I grew up with two rescue greyhounds, and from that moment on I knew one thing for sure: I would always choose rescue. Today, I’m lucky to share my life with two amazing rescue dogs, Callie and Luna, who remind me every day how life-changing adoption can be. Really, who saved who!?Recently, I’ve started spending more time at the shelter walking dogs, helping volunteers, and getting to know so many incredible pups who just need a chance. The shelter is full again and Lentil is at risk. I’ll never understand it, but this little piggy girl has been returned TWICE. Her story deserves a better ending.🐷48 pounds, pocket pittie 🐷adorable sploots🐷seems de-barked (😭) so has cute piggy snorts 🐷loves chewing on bones or laying in the kiddie pool🐷easy to leash and walk🐷non-reactive to other dogs (slow intros always!) Oakley is a pint-sized love who adores cuddles, hugs, and treats. He walks well on a leash, is crate and house trained, and is very treat motivated—making training easy. He does well with other dogs and cats, but slow intros are always recommended.Oakley loves adventures, including car rides (especially pup cups), and enjoys sunbathing. He’s a top-level cuddler—especially on the couch next to you—and is a happy people greeter who will shower you with kisses. 7/23 UPDATE: Our girl did great through the night and is up and walking with support! Final bill came to $2509.39 and is paid off thanks to all of your support ❤️‍🩹 Medellin made it through surgery and is now recovering in foster, however, damage from the gunshot wounds was far worse than expected. The bullets had destroyed muscle and bone, and the scar tissue made her surgery much more complex.When her blood pressure and breathing became unstable, the surgical team shifted to the fastest life‑saving option and removed the leg at the fracture site. There was no time to remove the bullet in her face either. If the remaining bone fragments and shrapnel cause complications, she may need another surgery later. For now, the focus is keeping her safe and stable. We’re very grateful to @krwofford and the whole team at @pinehurst_veterinarian This girl has survived unimaginable trauma, but she is surrounded by loving and experienced medical fosters tonight. If deemed necessary, she will be transferred to the ER clinic for further monitoring.We appreciate everyone’s support and donations. We still need about $300 more to cover her surgery. (Estimate shown did not include pre-op bloodwork; we’re waiting on the final bill). I got to see my 🍑Peachy Poo🍑 this morning, and I still can’t believe this is her life now.Ten months in a shelter kennel at @acasadvocates heartworm positive… and now she’s getting pup cups delivered to her at her foster home like the spoiled little queen she was always meant to be.I think about all the reels I made of her, all the times I begged people to share her story, and how I just refused to give up on her. I wasn’t stopping until she got out. She’s out because of people coming together to advocate for her. 🙏Seeing her this happy will never get old.And to her fosters, Michelle and Tim… I will never be able to thank you enough. You fell in love with Peaches before you had ever even met her, and because of that, she finally knows what it feels like to be someone’s baby. Please help us welcome our newest Rogue Recruit: Medellin.We were able to pull this sweet girl right before her deadline and get her settled safely into foster over the weekend. We are still working to obtain the full incident report, but we do know this. Due to an incident in her previous home, Medellin was shot twice. Once in the face and once in the back leg.Miraculously, the bullet to her head missed her brain, jaw, and teeth. The shot to her hind leg, however, shattered her femur and left shrapnel throughout her hind end. Her shelter intake also noted her poor body condition and a heavy flea infestation.Despite everything she has endured, Medellin is unbelievably gentle. She melts for human affection and although we’re not yet allowing her to socialize with other dogs, she sweetly seeks out their attention through a barrier.Our goal is to get her in for an amputation this week, pending she’s healthy enough. Her bloodwork shows very low iron and she is significantly underweight, but she is soaking up love in her foster home and we are hopeful for her future.Thank you to everyone who rallied to get her out before her deadline. UPDATE: BART IS GOING INTO LONG TERM FOSTER! 🤩Bart has ONE DAY LEFT. 7/19We need someone that can help give this boy a loving home and a place to grow. Whether that is through adoption or fostering till adoption. Going back to the shelter will break this dog. Fostering is free. All materials and supplies for the dog’s care can be provided by the shelter. Please if you can help, let’s save Bart.💙• 3 year old male staffy/lab mix• Energetic and playful but can also get down for a long nap• Has the shiniest black/brown coat• Fixed• No cats• Good with kids• Can learn to live with another dog as long as intros are slow and thoughtful • Mostly potty trained• Very smart and easy to train• Prefers shorter walks in the day and a longer walk in the evening• Very goofy and clumsy• Just wants to be by your sideHe doesn’t need much.
