Welcoming back Syrian pianist Khaled Kurbeh, marking his second release on Research Records with IthaΜ„ SajaΜ„ (Ψ§Ω•Ψ°Ψ§ Ψ³Ψ¬Ω‰), a collection of nine piano pieces. wal-Leil (ΩˆΨ§Ω„Ω„Ω‘ΩŠΩ„Ω’) [by the night] opens the album. A stunning piece that grew from conversations with friends Hend Alkahwaji and Wejdan Nassif during theatre rehearsals, setting the tone for an intimate collection of works to follow. IthaΜ„ SajaΜ„ is out September 04 on gatefold vinyl and digital, featuring cover art and a booklet of drawings by Ida Lawrence β€” nine repetitions of Khaled’s upright piano, taking shape or disintegrating as one turns the page. wal-Leil (ΩˆΨ§Ω„Ω„Ω‘ΩŠΩ„Ω’) is available on our Bandcamp now. Mastered by Bo Kondren at @calyxmastering Artwork by @idalawrencee Graphic Design by Rik Watkinson. Photo by Youngjun Kim Composed, recorded and mixed by Khaled Kurbeh.
