We recently partnered with @the.flourishsociety to create reusable tote bags from designer fabric scraps from the commercial furniture industry.

These beautiful bags are handmade by women in Belize and will be given away at an upcoming @metropolismag event called Synergy in San Francisco on October 1!

Beautiful design.

Women creating opportunity.

I stopped trying to fit in.

Into the industry.

Into the rules.

Into everyone else’s rules.

And then I realized…

Maybe I wasn’t supposed to.

Maybe I was supposed to question things.

Like why perfectly good furniture becomes waste.

Why “new” automatically means better.

Why we accept a linear system when we know it doesn’t work.

So I built something different.

RESEAT.

Because furniture deserves more than one life.

And honestly, so do we.

Stop trying to fit into the room.

At 15, I found out I was pregnant.

At 16, I gave birth to my baby girl.

At 17, I married my high school boyfriend.

At 21, I got pregnant with baby #2.

At 22, I got divorced.

At 23, I got my first job in the office furniture industry at Lindsay Ferrari, (also known as One Workplace).

At 25, I married the love of my life, who I met at Lindsey‘s.

We started a small boutique dealership selling open line and second life furniture that start up companies were going to get rid of in the Bay Area.

At 27, we bought our first house in Willow Glen.

At 29 we had our main home, and a rental property.

Life was great and we were feeling pretty good.

At 38 we lost it all.

We owed more than $400,000 in taxes and business had tanked.

We filed bankruptcy.

From age 35 to 43, I went back to working in the dealer world while renting a house in Willow Glen from a very well-known local businessman.

The man we rented that house from would eventually become an investor in our company. We had no idea at the time.

Then came 2020.

The pandemic hit and we were laid off due to Covid.

And I was deep in my alcoholism.

Then something major happened (I’ll save that for the book people keep telling me I’m going to write) that changed everything and I stopped drinking.

And I started RESEAT.

Five months later, we had global press coverage. No press relations company. No funds for marketing. Just out of the blue, global press coverage.

And that same landlord, we had barely spoken to over the years, saw what we were building.

He became our investor, with no pitch deck!

A few weeks later, we became partners.

And we started building the technology behind RESEAT.

2021: Best of @neocon_shows-shocked is an understatement. Never, ever did I think I’d be exhibiting at the big show, yet alone winning.

2022: Three more @neocon_shows awards.

2023/2024 Business is profitable.

2025: we rebuilt our lives and bought a home in El Dorado Hills, just two houses away from the rental home we had once owned.

2026: Best of NeoCon for sustainability in technology.

When I look back at the timeline, I don’t see a straight line.

I see mistakes.

Loss.
