1. I get confused easily with technical stuff and end up sewing things wrongly because I wasn't paying attention. When it does it happen, I get frustrated 😠. So I stop, unpick, and continue the journey to finishing the garment.

2. I wish I could pay models to pose professionally for me but momentarily, my money is directed into training myself professionally, upcoming international shows, and fabrics. I don't enjoy photoshoots because I'm a shy person (those who know me will laugh, but it's true) but I have to put my work out there to get noticed. Also, adjusting the clothes to a model doesn't guarantee it will look great considering the measurements are to my body.

3. I obsess over my work. Is it different? Is it couture enough? Am I designing something unique? I realised I just needed to relax and let my designs come through naturally.

4. I started at Dorcas Fashion Academy in 2019 not knowing how to use a sewing machine 😑 or making patterns. I mean, I was clueless but I knew becoming a designer was in my destiny. I've come a long, long way so I want to be proud of myself and my creations. My hardwork is paying off.

5. Building a brand is challenging nowadays, considering there are so many vying for people's attention and money. My brand is unfolding one step at a time and I am learning not to rush it and enjoy the pace.

✨ Designer Spotlight: Resham Khiani ✨

Resham’s journey into fashion began with no formal background and no experience using a sewing machine. In 2019, she enrolled at Dorcas Fashion Academy, where she learned to sew entirely from scratch. What followed was a long and demanding process of mastering garment construction, pattern cutting, and fit. Fashion did not come easily — it required discipline, patience, and a willingness to start at the very beginning.

During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Resham began envisioning a brand of her own. With time to reflect and create, her ideas became clearer and more intentional. She started this journey at the age of 34, driven by a desire to push herself creatively and tell stories through clothing. Seven years on, her hard work is paying off.

Creatively, Resham is drawn to glamorous yet wearable womenswear, inspired by the elegance of 1940s and 1950s fashion. Structured silhouettes, femininity, and timeless sophistication sit at the heart of her design language, reimagined for the modern woman.

In July 2025, after debuting her second collection, Ode to Elegance, at the Gustavo Bacarisa Gallery, Resham reached a major turning point. Her work caught the attention of the Miss Europe Continental hosts, who discovered her through Instagram and invited her to showcase two pageantry dresses on an international stage in Naples, Italy, in December 2025.

One design, Crimson Eclipse, was worn by Miss Bulgaria, who advanced to the Top 5, and later by Miss Latvia on the red carpet. Her second design, Sculptured Emerald, was worn by a judge on the Miss Europe Continental 2025 panel.

From this defining moment, House of Galani was born — a brand blending Italian silhouettes and minimalism with rich Indian colourways and intricate embroidery. What began as a late start evolved into a distinctive fashion house shaped by resilience, cultural dialogue, and an unwavering commitment to elegance.
