Lucas Salemi got his first door car rips last night in Tom Wortham's @pdraracing Pro Street 67 Chevy II Nova at Empire Dragway. Car features a MSR Performance / Noonan 4.900 engine with Hart’s Charger 136 Centrifugal supercharger M&M TH 400 transmission and converter. G-Force Race Cars on the fit and finish turn key application with Evan Salemi on the tuneup. On its 5th run it ran 4.05 - 188 mph. Needless to say all parties at hand are extremely pleased so far after its initial testing phase. by @resolutionjon

As most everyone has said about Lou Koller, his incredible presence as a human being, a great friend, father, and leader of this scene we all know and love, I’ve chosen to share a personal story between him and me from the Sick of It All / Snapcase tour in Europe some 32 years ago, when so many lifelong friendships were formed.

One evening before a show in France, the club where we were performing prepared an amazing meal for us. Once everyone finished eating, they got up to get ready for the show, leaving Lou and me sitting there by ourselves. After some small talk, he looked at me and said:

“I love your band, and you guys are so good at what you do. I want you to remember something because I care about you. Don’t do this for the money. Don’t do this for the fame. Don’t do it because it’s the cool thing for the time. Do it for the memories, for the love of what you’re doing, and for the people and friendships you make along the way. Then you’ll be successful in whatever endeavor you choose.”

That 10-minute conversation between us has stayed with me through every music and racing venture since that day. It’s a philosophy that’s as real today as it was then.

Rest in peace, my brother. You left an untouchable mark on so many lives, and you will always be remembered.

On the early morning of July 5, we (Melanie and I) received a phone call from our nephew Lucas Salemi that Grandma Salemi’s house was on fire. Everyone including Grandma Pat Salemi, Larry Salemi, and of course Lucas were out safely but what was to ensue over the next five hours was extremely challenging, detrimental and of course highly emotional. Negligent disposal of fireworks by neighbors caused a traumatic house fire where all possessions, memories, keepsakes and almost 50 years of creating a household vanished. This is not a post for sympathy or poor Me’s, just straight awareness and extreme education at its highest level is the relevancy. It’s that feeling of what are the first steps are once the Firemen and Firetruck’s leave the scene. Although it’s a horrific situation, there are many people that step up and start to guide the process almost instantly. It’s when you put your trust in society and see the local community really comes together, from the American Red Cross to local agencies there really are people that help! The process will be long and drawn out at times, but it’s moving forward already. Lastly, please check your smoke detectors as they are the reason all three of my family members are still here with us today. Most importantly, know and understand your homeowner’s insurance policy, I can’t stress this enough!!! No one wants to pay the long dollar for insurance until you need it, but it can be a life saver! by @resolutionjon
