A new adventure began in September! Take a seat 💺, grab your fries 🍟, and enjoy the show 🎥.

A few weeks ago, 21 students landed in Genk (Belgium) 🇧🇪 with 21 suitcases, 21 passports, and an optimistic idea: that design can change the way healthcare is perceived.

We arrived from many different countries. By Friday, we were already a group that knew who loves coffee, who asks the tough questions, and who says yes to absolutely everything.

Welcome to our first semester at @luca.schoolofarts as part of the Res_Fut Master’s Program in Design and Health_Care, where we’ll explore care from every possible angle and enjoy this journey together.

✨️ Introducing the ResFut '28 Cohort ✨️

Hello, I am Başak (@bskasirol), an industrial designer from İstanbul, Türkiye. As a social and curious person, I enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and understanding their perspectives. When I include these freely evolving dialogues and my curiosity into my design process, one idea organically leads to another. Because these collective environments are essential to my work, I have integrated participatory methods into my practice, which have taught me how co-creation guides and facilitates the entire design process.

I see design as a space for debate and negotiation to challenge and change unspoken norms. This perspective turned me into a designer who enjoys navigating complex projects. I am particularly interested in design for social sustainability and inclusion, especially in public and cultural spaces, guided by the principle of 'Leaving No One Behind.' Instead of viewing underrepresented groups as secondary users in these spaces, I aim to design services, products, and systems that create conditions for everyone to interact with these spaces and products inclusively.

✨️ Introducing the ResFut '28 Cohort ✨️

Hi! I’m Haika (@haikadawood). I am a Visual Communication Designer / Illustrator from Pakistan. Although I’ve gained a lot of practical skills on that front, with a primary focus on design for advertising and the fin-tech space, I am now ready to move beyond the general and specialize to make a truly impactful contribution to the society around me.

Working in the real-world, I gained an ever-growing awareness both as a person and an emerging designer. I decided I wanted to utilise my skills to lead to positive change, but on a wider
scale.Therefore I joined the SDG fellowship, where I designed a project tackling healthcare literacy for rural communities in Pakistan.

This experience only further reinforced my belief that design shouldn’t only be about solutions/deliverables but must also incorporate empathy, ethics, and the diverse lived experiences of those around me. Now, I wish to combine these ideals with my future education at Response_Able Futures to create tangible societal impact with my designs.

Outside of work, I love listening to podcasts, illustrating/drawing, crocheting and since I enjoy learning about other people’s perspective
on things, I am also part of a book club. I’m really excited to be part of the program and can't wait to meet everyone!

✨️ Introducing the ResFut '28 Cohort ✨️

Halo! Nice to meet you my name is Dinda 🙏 (@ciptaviana)

When asked what I do for work, I often pause ... searching for a way to describe the wonderful mix of opportunities I have had in design. Though I do consider myself a designer, I rarely fit neatly into a familiar design category. So, if I am feeling cheeky, I would say that I am the Indonesian slang “PALUGADA"" which is an abbreviation of Apa lu mau, gue ada ‘whatever you need, I can provide’. Though that sounds a bit overconfident... my work has taught me to shapeshift as a designer, from learning to co-create public space designs with kampungs, researching tempeh production, representing youth in regional diplomacy (YSBEA), and more.

With each opportunity that comes my way, I reconnect with my roots in design as a tool for communication, to dig deep with empathy, and to create works that evoke care and belonging in our shared futures. All that said, I am rarely alone in what I do. Please check out my collective’s Instagram @Kampung_Kollektief 🐓, which showcases all the fun our community and collaborators have had together. Feel free to reach out and collaborate!

Now (2026-2028), I am here in the Response_Able Futures program. Stepping out of my comfort zone to level up with a new community for health and care based design 💐✨

Whenever I have free time, I enjoy the pause of doing nothing in particular, walking around the many alleys and neighbourhoods in my city just to see what I can discover. Can’t wait to see a whole new world in Europe :D

✨️ Introducing the ResFut '28 Cohort ✨️

Hi! I'm Kath (@diariodeunabiomedica), from Peru. I'm a biomedical engineer, but that word has never quite covered what I do.

I was born in Huancayo, a city in the Andes, where I saw very early how unequal access to healthcare can be. That gap is why I became an engineer. What I didn't expect was that engineering alone would not be enough. Since my first year at university I was also taking courses in 3D design, digital fabrication and graphic design, quietly, on my own, as if it were a parallel life. It took me a while to stop treating them as two separate things.

During the pandemic I joined the MASI project, which brought nearly 150 mechanical ventilators to Peruvian hospitals, including Chachapoyas at 2,400 metres above sea level. Standing in that corridor I understood that a device only matters once it reaches the person who needs it, and that reaching them is a design problem as much as a technical one. Later I worked at Siemens Healthineers and in medical technology, installing diagnostic equipment across public and private hospitals. Along the way I prototyped a smart walker for older adults, a home cardiac auscultation device, and GABBY, a voice assistant for elderly independence that won first place at the IFMBE Summer School hackathon in Colombia. I also run ""Diario de una biomédica"", where I explain health technology through illustration and 3D design, because a technology that cannot be explained cannot be cared for.

I'm coming to Response_Able Futures because I've been standing between engineering and design for years without a name for it, and I want to build that space properly, with people who are doing the same from the other side.
