Sharing a new-to-me piece of gear that really elevated our camping experience while on our road trip! The Traverseon Portable Gas Propane Stove was gifted to me to test out in exchange for a gear review (blog post coming in a few weeks). There is no incentive here for me to leave a more positive review than I honestly believe in.
@traverseon.official

That said, I had a great experience with this little stove (and in communications with personnel from Traverseon) so I can positively recommend trying this stove for your next adventure!

It was truly so convenient, easy to set up, simple to pack away, and such a compact lightweight stove to keep in our camping bin. We lasted 7 or 8 days using this stove and just one of those propane canisters shown in the video. With the prongs folded in, we could fit my backpacking pot for boiling water and cooking other boxed items. However, the ability to flip out the prongs was more useful than we anticipated! We like cooking with cast iron pans and the wider base for the pan felt way more sturdy and we were way more confident cooking real food on it. No worries of toppling the little stove over (there are wide sturdy feet on the stove too)!

We could wake up, roll out of the tent, and get the percolator started in 5 minutes while we did other morning camp chores. Another positive- it cooled down quickly so we could always pack it away in its carrying case before getting back on the road.

I’ll end it there, but I hope this honest review helps you out when making your own gear decisions! There is a code RESTLESS10 for 10% off any of your own purchases!

*Note: I did notice what appears to be AI-generated content on Traverseon’s website and official social media. While I understand the concerns with companies and AI, all I can do here is share my honest opinion of my experience with the company and the gear I received.

ROAD TRIP DAY 3
Sioux Falls, SD > Black Hills National Forest, WY
Woke up at our first campground of the trip! Nothing like that morning campground feeling. This was our first morning using the new @traverseon.official stove to make coffee in our percolator. It worked perfectly, we let it run while we cleaned up camp and prepped some breakfast yogurt bowls.

Then we were on the road again! We passed enough signs on I-90 that we did swing by the 1880 town (didn’t go in) and Wall Drug lol. Did go into Wall Drug to poke around, get some 5 cent coffee, and a maple donut that was actually outstanding.

Back at it to go through Rapid City, Hill City (um it looked so cute driving through here?? I’d love to come back), hiked Black Elk Peak in Custer State Park, swam in Sylvan Lake to cool off, and showed up to quiet Reuter Campground in Black Hills National Forest for the night. It was a Sunday night so not too busy but it was the perfect spot to set up, make dinner, and let Willie stretch his legs.

Had a @goodtogofoods meal (love love love a local Maine company!)and some mashed potatoes with a couple beers I picked up from @sturgisbrewing at the 1880 town and a s’more for dessert. Felt so good to get outside and explore this day!

ROAD TRIP DAYS 1-2 🚘
NH > Sioux Falls, SD
The first two days of our road trip essentially consisted of driving. We left around 3:15pm Friday evening and were on the road for essentially 28 hours straight. This consisted of a 2h stop on the highway outside Cleveland at 3 in the morning as police had to deal with a situation and we had no way to turn around. We had fresh sourdough bread, a sleepy pup, were blessed with an absolutely gorgeous sunset, saw some fireworks, and did our time through Chicago to get all the way to Sioux Falls for dinner Saturday night.

We started driving in pretty long shifts but they steadily got shorter as we approached our destination haha. Thank you thank you Sioux Falls for the perfect much needed meal at @fernson for us to get some real food into our bodies! Everything we ate and drank hit the spot and the staff had some fantastic recs for us.

Ended the evening camping at Lake Vermillion Recreation Area which was the perfect spot! Able to wash the car grime off with a dip in the lake and enjoyed setting up our @cvttents for our first camping night!

Enjoyed the evening with Ben’s home brewed beer and cider while we read under the stars. ✨ ā¤ļø Perfect night to start our trip!

Lots of content incoming! My husband and I finished an amazing two week road trip around the US- 7500 miles and through 21 states! Saw lots of places we’d never been and revisited some familiar areas as well. Even got to see family and friends I hadn’t seen in YEARS which truly made my heart so full. ā¤ļø

We spent ten nights camping in our new @cvttents (courtesy of FBMP) and I have to say, I had my reservations, but it was fantastic! So easy, convenient, comfortable and roomy. Especially with our pup Willie joining us, I’m so so happy we made this choice. See pic 4 for the tent set up.

We also used a gifted @traverseon.official Portable Gas Propane Stove which again, I was hesitant on, but it proved me wrong! Lightweight, compact, easy to use, and worked perfectly for us the whole two weeks! I’ll be sharing more on this product in another post.

Pics shown here are Yellowstone; Glacier, Joseph OR, the camp set up, Cutler SD, Willie snoooozin, the coffee set up( camping in WY, Craters of the Moon NP, driving in CO, Willie and me, hiking in WY, Rocky Mountain NP, and camping in MT.

As I say every summerā€¦ā˜€ļøBeing by the lake is all I need! Swimming, bonfires, playing games with friends, and good food make for an absolutely stellar weekend. And if you’re lucky some kayaking and fishing to really get out on the water!

Did an exceptionally fun walk/trail run in Kingston, NH with Ben recently! Tucker and French Mill Pond Loop part of Southeast Land Trust. Beautiful day and the trail was just lovely. Saw a huge heron (in the very center of the third pic but you can’t really tell lol) and I always love love love when a trail goes by water. Really we came here for a walk but decided to do some jogging once we realized what a nice trail it was. Would definitely return with the intention to run another time!

We were out this way picking up our pieces from Ridabock Glass after we did a workshop with friends (highly recommend)! Followed up the walk with a trip to Memories Ice Cream, Exeter Brewing Co, and Deciduous! At Deciduous we grabbed a yummy pizza from Panzanellas next door.

If you know me or follow me at all you know I’m a sucker for views and brews, trying new things, and making a full day out of lots of mini local adventures! This day checked all the boxes. Here’s your reminder to explore in your own state (or town, country, etc.!)

🄾If you’re like me and need to warm up a bit after some winter hibernation, check out some of these smaller hikes throughout New Hampshire! They’re fun and have great views so they’ll really help you get back into the hiking spirit. Some have some solid elevation gain too so you can get those hiking muscles working!

šŸ1) Pack Monadnock (shown in the video): Just under 3 miles and under 1,000ft elevation gain in Peterborough! Miller State Park is so fun to visit and has amenities making for a great family outing.

šŸ”„2) Magalloway Mountain: Only 2 miles and under 1,000ft elevation gain, way up in Pittsburg! SUCH a fantastic fire tower hike I cannot recommend enough! On a clear day it’s literally endless 360 views and the reward for such a short hike is so worth it!

🪨3) Mount Cardigan: There’s a few different trails to reach Mount Cardigan in Cardigan Mountain State Park over in Canaan. These range from 3-5.5 miles and 1,200-2,000ft elevation gain. I’ve only done this mountain once but I’ve been craving to revisit it lately!

ā˜€ļø4) Mount Israel: 4.3 miles and just under 1,800ft elevation gain in Sandwich. This is one of my favorite spring hikes actually! The views are too good and the summit is so enjoyable to relax at.

šŸ¦”5) Hedgehog Mountain: Off the Kancamagus Highway near Bartlett, the UNH trail up this mountain is 4.7 miles round trip and around 1,400ft in elevation gain. The views are killer as you can see some of the bigger neighbor mountains around you and they’re in-your-face stunning.

šŸ”ļøBonus! Mt Chocorua: Also off the Kanc and just down the road from Hedgehog, Chocorua is on the harder side of this list, but the views are worth it. It has many trail options and it’s such an accessible spot for many hikers making it truly just a gem of a mountain. As always, know your hiking ability. 7-10 miles on steep terrain will be difficult if you haven’t been hiking much!

Let me know if you have any other favorites below!

Tamworth, NH- You guys, the number of times I’ve driven through Tamworth to go hiking up north and never actually stopped into the town?? Well the other weekend I convinced Ben to take a day trip with me and it was the most lovely sunny weekend day trip we could’ve asked for!

It was the cutest little town (as I’m sure anyone who’s been already knows). We didn’t have time to do everything around there so if you have any other must-visits let me know!

We visited Tamworth Bakery where they made me a GREAT cappuccino and their pastries were to die for. Then we walked through town to visit Tamworth Distilling which was nothing like I expected! Such a pretty property with seating by the river and a huge variety of unique options to try! Lastly was Whippletree Winery which I wanted to try ever since I saw a PB&J wine from them in a store years ago lol. Did a quick tasting, these were a little sweet for me honestly, but really glad I finally tried them!

Slowly but surely checking out all the cute little towns in New Hampshire.

I’ve just uploaded a new post to the blog all about visiting Pittsburg, NH! Check out the link in my bio to read more.

My husband and I found Ramblewood Campground three years ago up there and have been returning each year since! I absolutely love the area, it’s truly such a gem. My post shares a bit more about where you can stay, the best restaurants in the area, shops you must hit, and all sorts of activities you can do!

When you thought it was spring but it starts snowing during the fly fishing session and the winds pick up, making for a very difficult attempt. From a couple weekends ago up near Cannon Mountain, my husband and friend were trying out a new spot and while it looked great on paper, the weather had some other plans! Still fun to get outside and try something new, even went down to a stream spot further south on 93, but sometimes it just might not work out as you plan. Hoping to get out for a little more fishing this summer than we did last year! (And no, my fun knitted fishing sweater did not bring the boys any extra fishing luck unfortunately.)

The look of pure impatience 🤣 Photo dump from the Doubleheads hike! It was such a lovely day and a really enjoyable trail (even if it was super steep!), would definitely return. South provided in-your-face views that I hadn’t seen it a bit. Reminded me how much I love the mountains!

Do you have any favorite mountain summit views in New England?

šŸ”ļøViews on South DoubleheadšŸ”ļø Part of a 4 mile hike with a little under 2,000ft elevation gain near Jackson, NH. Makes for a fantastic day hike on the shorter side so if you go in the morning you have plenty of time to explore the North Conway area afterwards! Also part of New Hampshire’s 52 with a view list so you know the views will be worth it!
