POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Mother Nature forgot her paperwork.

Yesterday I visited my dadโ€™s factory in West Kalimantan again.

ALL our raw materials come from natural forest ecosystems. We gather what nature provides. The forest stays a forest.

Some products have an organic certification.
Others donโ€™t.

Here, the uncertified products are cheaper because they donโ€™t carry the additional certification costs like audits, inspections, a lot of admin and more...

An ingredient grown on a farm can be certified organic.
And an ingredient growing naturally in a rainforest can be uncertifiedโ€ฆ

Weird isnโ€™t it?

Because organic certification verifies production and processing standards.

Yet how many of us picture exactly that when we see the label?

Certification matters.
And so does understanding what that actually tells us.

Where did it grow?
How was it collected?
Is the ecosystem still thriving?

The leaf on the packaging gets our attention.
The forest behind it deserves our curiosity.

Certification doesnโ€™t always tell the whole story.
And non-certified doesnโ€™t always means itโ€™s not organic.

Because our trees still produce the sameโ€ฆ
With or without label.

What are YOU imagining when you buy organic?

Learning about Bali isnโ€™t just about seeing it. Itโ€™s about taking the time to understand it. ๐ŸŒฟ
With our interns from @restorethelegacy, we spent the day learning how to make Canang Sari and experiencing the tradition of making an offering.

From the hands-on process to learning the meaning behind each detail, it was a reminder that culture is best understood through connection, curiosity, and listening.
Because when we take the time to learn from others, we see a place in a whole new way.

Interested in doing an internship with us? Check the link in our bio and see you soon in Bali!

Meet our nursery with Annelot!

Annelot is a student at @uniwageningen, and sheโ€™s here to play matchmakerโ€ฆ for plants.

Sheโ€™ll be experimenting with companion planting:
Figuring out which native plants in our ecosystem help each other grow, thrive and become stronger together.

Basicallyโ€ฆ making tiny plant friendships now, so theyโ€™re ready for the big wild world later.

And once theyโ€™re strong enough? Off they go to their permanent future home: our newly restored forest.

Would you like to know more about companion planting?

A little field science with a pretty decent office view

Measuring pH and water hardness helps us understand the pondโ€™s chemical balance and whether the conditions support healthy koi and a living aquatic ecosystem.

And yesโ€ฆ we could definitely have picked a worse place to collect data. ๐Ÿ˜‰ taken in Jatiluwih by @restorethelegacy

Scouting new land for reforestation with @sofiekekamerling, our very passionated International Development Management intern.

It involved a lot of motorbike rides, plenty of climbing up and down tiny, slightly suspicious roads, and several moments of wondering where on earth we were going.

But every road led us to another incredible view and sometimes, to a project that perfectly matched our vision: a polluted, forgotten field waiting for the chance to breathe again.

Another challenge? Absolutely.

Another future healthy forest?
That is exactly what we see. by @restorethelegacy

What does a day in Bali with me look like?

Apparentlyโ€ฆ

95 kilometres.
Almost 4 hours.
Approximately 700 scooters.
And absolutely zero glamorousness.

Because in Bali, 95 kilometres is not a drive.

It is a long-term commitment. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Macet banget. Traffic everywhere.

Just so you knowโ€ฆ

We are not scouting land to squeeze in another resort for outsiders who love the view but never learned how the landscape actually works.

We are scouting degraded plantations and polluted land to turn them back into healthy, diverse forest ecosystems. ๐ŸŒฑ

Land where local communities can cultivate responsibly.
Where people can pray.
Where wildlife can return.
And where the forest can be safeguarded for generations.

Because a forest is not just a pretty collection of trees.

Today, Sofieke joined me. She is our International Sustainable Development intern from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.

She is here to discover what sustainability looks like outside a classroom.

Spoiler: it looks like traffic, muddy shoes, long conversations with farmers, difficult decisions and occasionally wondering whether your spine will ever recover from another Balinese road. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We have finally arrived in North Bali.

Tomorrow: more scouting, more conversations with local farmers and more searching for ways to create real impact.. one piece of land at a time.

Curious what Sofieke thinks of the unfiltered reality of fieldwork?

Keep an eye on our internship page!

Soโ€ฆ how was your day?

A day in the life of an intern in Bali ๐ŸŒด

Itโ€™s not just early mornings, work days, and ticking things off the to-do list. Itโ€™s learning from the people around you, getting your hands dirty, exploring adifferent side of Bali, and realizing that some of the best lessons donโ€™t happenbehind a desk.

For Kira & Lukas, this internship with @restorethelegacy and @gardenoflifeofficial has been a little bit of work, a little bit of adventure, and a whole lot of learning along the way.

From meaningful work to new experiences, come along for a day in our Bali internship! ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

INTERNSHIPS LOADINGโ€ฆ โณ

Something wild is about to begin.

New places. New research. New people.

Muddy boots, unexpected discoveries, questionable field decisions and probably a few stories weโ€™re not prepared for yet. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ”ฌ

Our very first internship adventures is about to kick off!

And this page?
This is where weโ€™re sharing the real version.

The research. The fieldwork. The chaos. The wins. The fails. And everything in between.

Are you ready for some adventures? taken in Wongaya Betan, Mengesta, Penebel by @restorethelegacy

Yesterday we had our annual EU family dinner, and it was amazing!

One evening with the people who work on Restore the Legacy from Europe, our team, partners and stakeholders, together around one table.

And seeing everyone together like this makes us incredibly proud.

Because restoring rainforest may happen in Indonesia, but making it possible takes an ecosystem of people.

Different backgrounds.
Different expertise.
Different roles.
One shared ambition.

From science and ecology to finance, partnerships, communication and strategy, every person brings another piece of the puzzle.

And that is exactly how we believe impact should grow.

By bringing the right people together around a shared mission.

Andโ€ฆ building traditions along the way. ๐ŸŒฟ

A huge thank you to our European team, partners and stakeholders for everything you bring to Restore the Legacy.

The family is growing.

So is the impact.

And yesโ€ฆ we may need a bigger table next year. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’š
