If you’re adding one jacket to your wardrobe this fall, I’m voting for a dark gray suede bomber. It looks polished, stylish, and it’s a great alternative to the usual brown suede we see a lot. It’s also a great neutral that goes with mostly everything. It can feel casual or dressed up, and literally makes anything you’re wearing look better.

The outfit was totally fine, I just knew it could be better. Swipe for the all-improved outfit!

A few swaps in color and texture take it from basic corporate to a look with much more personality - without changing too much. This is a doable fix for my clients who want easy and simple adjustments. Sometimes an outfit just needs a better edit.

My client is a recent college graduate starting his career in finance - and his favorite clothes to wear are sweatshirts and sweatpants. Anything beyond that feels formal to him.

He also hates tucking in his shirts unless it’s for a wedding, so I built his work capsule around what he’ll actually wear.

We started with grey trousers with a little stretch for comfort, a wool zip sweater he can wear to meetings, a blue cotton shirt designed to be worn untucked, and one crisp white shirt for the days he needs to look a little sharper — yes, that one I made him tuck in.

I also added an unlined navy knit blazer that works with the grey trousers and white shirt when he needs a more polished look, without making him feel overly dressed up.

Let’s talk about chinos. They’re one of those pieces I think every man should have in his wardrobe—more polished than jeans, less formal than dress trousers, and incredibly easy to wear. They’re especially useful for college students: think of them as a wardrobe “uniform” you can wear casually during the day with a polo, sweater or sneakers, then switch to a button-down, or blazer and loafers for dinner, a date or a more formal social event. And don’t stop at khaki—navy, olive, stone and chocolate brown give you even more options. This is what I mean by a wardrobe that works harder.
