POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🤫 Don’t wake Mewtwo! A quick reel from my 2024 travels to Japan, I’ve wanted to see this incubation tube Mewtwo at the entrance of Shibuya Pokemon Center since it opened! Another thing I’m happy to tick off the Pokemon bucket list ✔️

Exeggutor no. 0103 | Mega Evolution 🧬

To make a great omelette you’ve got to crack a few eggs! Exeggcute’s big bro gets a lovely bold card by Yukihiro Tada and as you guys already know from my previous posts I love bold, playful, nostalgic artwork This clearly ticks all three ✅

What do you think of this card?

Mega has been so good fresh out the gate that it almost feels a shame to move onto the next set so quickly. Pokémon’s set schedule is increasingly hard to keep on top of but we do our best!

I’ll be taking a little week or so break in the coming days after #CardExpo, the house errands don’t complete themselves but I’ll be back with fresh shots soon! In the meantime I may try ti drop some pack openings. ✌🏼 This photograph shows an illustration rare Pokemon card featuring Exeggute wandering through a jungle. The card is photographed on a colourful scene surrounded by game accessories such as energy cards, damage dice and a Vault X binder. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Meowth no. 0052 | Team Rocket 🚀

There’s always time to dig through those older cards and appreciate them again. Looks like we’ve got some good fortune with everyone’s favourite “lucky” feline, Meowth!

Money motivated and drawn to shiny objects, Meowth was always the true brains of the operation 😉

We all have core-memory Pokemon and I’d definitely say Meowth is one of them, growing up wouldn’t have been the same without Team Rockets schemes and traps. I’m happy to look back on this card and relive all those memories again ❤️

Is Meowth one of your core-memory Pokemon? This photograph shows a vintage Pokemon card featuring Meowth against a red Ultra Pro card binder. The photograph features other game accessories such as damage dice and battle coins. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Cyndaquil no.0155 | 2001 Boomer Gum 🍬

Something a little out of the ordinary for me today, I thought I’d show a little gem in my collection. In 2001 we were hot on the heels of the Johto region expanding the Pokemon universe. Pokemon (as it always has) ran multiple collaborations to show off their new pocket monsters. Here we have one of favourites. In a pack of Boomer gum you could find sticker cards similar to Topps.

Do you remember these?

My favourite of the bunch being Cyndaquil, full holo in an almost digital pattern, if you look closely the holo is made up of small letters spelling “Originals”.

Alongside this I thought I’d sneak in my custom Cyndaquil binder, which is filling up slowly with the cards featuring my favourite Pokemon. ❤️ This photograph features a vintage 2001 sticker card, from the Pokemon and Boomer Gum collaboration. The card is photographed against a custom designed orange Vault X trading card binder and is surrounded by game accessories. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Venusaur no. 0003 | Pokemon 151 🌱

I know the shift into the new expansion has the current star of the show as the Mega illustration card from Mega Evolution but let’s not forget about this beauty from Yoriyuki Ikegami in Pokemon 151.

There front and centre in a natural habitat. Framed beautifully by the foliage. If this your favourite Venusaur card? If not let me know yours in the comments!

Thanks to my partner, I pulled this card recently after finding some 151 in the wild. As a birthday treat I got to open a few packs and managed to walk away with this and the Charmander 😍 The photo shows an illustration rare Pokemon card from the Pokemon 151 expansion set. The card features Venusaur and is surrounded by game accessories such as damage dice and energy cards. The background is a Vault X trading card binder. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Lampent no. 0608 | White Flare 🔥

#HappyHalloween guys! 🎃 I thought I’d finish up spooky season with one of my faves from the previous set. The Litwick evo-line fits perfectly with the vibes.

Unfortunately I didn’t pull Chandelure (Who wants to trade!) but Lampent is more than deserving of the spooky Halloween spot this year. With previous Pokédex entries such as; “It arrives near the moment of death and steals spirit from the body.” and “The spirits it absorbs fuel its baleful fire. It hangs around hospitals waiting for people to pass on.” I’d argue it’s one of the more terrifying images conjured in the Pokemon universe.

Is Lampent spooky enough to take your top spot? This photograph features the Pokemon card Lampent from 2025’s White Flare. The card is surrounded by game accessories such as energy cards and condition markers against a pumpkin orange Halloween background featuring a vault x trading card binder. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Illustrator: Saboteri | Mega Evolution 😍

For the first time in a while modern Pokemon felt nostalgic again and alongside the brilliant textures, bright packaging and incredible rare cards there’s an unsung hero who’s been creating brilliantly nostalgic cards for us to enjoy. The illustrator Saboteri (or Savot) from Yokohama is responsible for capturing these Pokemon perfectly. These common / uncommon cards sitting firmly as some of my favourites from the set. (Especially that Kadabra 🥄 😍)

What do you guys think? Do these give you that nostalgic feeling too? Let me know 🫡 This photograph shows a selection of Pokemon cards from the latest released expansion, Mega Evolution. These cards are all illustrated by Saboteri. The cards are against a yellow background and collectible Ultra Pro card binder. The photograph also features accessories such as damage dice counters. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Alakazam no.0065 | Mega Evolution 🥄

When we first got a glimpse of the latest ETB’s from Pokémon Mega Evolution I’m sure we all thought same. The promo cards had to be Ralts and Riolu! It was a huge surprise when we were treat to this beautiful Alakazam card by Aya Kusube.

Where do you think the Ralts full art ( if we have one ) will pop up?

I can’t complain, I’m a huge fan of the Abra line but I can’t help but wonder if they’re saving a full art Ralts for another product 🤔 we’ve been seeing a new wave of promos with battle decks so maybe there? I guess we’ll see! This photograph shows the promo Pokemon Card Alakazam from the recently released Mega Evolution ETB box set. The card is surrounded by gaming accessories and damage dice. The photograph has a purple, blue psychic colour tone. taken in Sheffield, United Kingdom by @retchly_

Pikachu no. 0025 | Hiroshima Box Promo ⭐️

Have you visited Hiroshima?

Last year during my almost month-long trip through Japan’s Golden Route we took a slight detour before heading to Osaka. A direct Shinkansen through to Hiroshima. A place that really stuck with us but also shook us to the core. I’d never felt anything like it. After a long day it was clear that Hiroshima and some of the surrounding scenes were somewhere we’d never forget.

Fast forward to mid-2025 the refurb and move of the Hiroshima Pokemon Center we visited was complete. My luck was fully cashed in that day, and when the boxes released to celebrate I was chosen for this box and promo! So here you have it, memories made and a souvenir that I didn’t know I needed arrived the following year. This photograph shows the exclusive Hiroshima Pokemon Center promotional Japanese card alongside other accessories such as the Pokemon Center pin and deck box dividers. The card is photographed on a Red Ultra Pro Binder with metallic damage dice surrounding. taken in Pokemon Center Hiroshima by @retchly_

Spiritomb no. 0442 | Mega Evolution

Perfect timing for a fresh spooky pull from the latest Mega Evolution! This ghost / dark Pokemon was bound to a mysterious keystone for all of its constant mischief and misdeeds but who was Spiritomb before? 🤔 👻

Who or which Pokemon do you think was bound to this stone?

I’m currently away catching something other than Pokemon currently! Some last minute sun in Spain. So my replies may be a little slower than usual but as always, appreciate you all sounding off in the comments! This photo features the Pokemon card Spiritomb, the card is from the latest booster pack set; Mega Evolution. The card is placed on a Vault X binder with game accessories such as dice and energy cards surrounding it. by @retchly_

Gardevoir M EX & Venusaur M EX | Mega Evolution

Pokémon’s latest set really doesn’t disappoint when it comes to colour, vibrancy and texture 😍 Just take a look at the re-introduction of Mega EX cards!

The whole set is saturated in bright colours and nostalgic artwork leaping through the car borders.

Are you a fan of the current wave of Mega EX Pokemon? Or did you prefer their old iterations! This photograph shows two Pokemon cards (Mega Venusaur EX and Mega Gardevoir EX) from the latest Pokemon trading card game expansion; Mega Evolution. They are placed on a binder from Vault X in a complimentary colour combination. Gastly no.0092 | Wild Force JP

We’re in the midst of leaves falling, chill creeping in and spooks surrounding us. So what better card to post!

Is this the best Gastly card ever?

I picked this card up almost a full year ago in Kyoto, I decided to miss #TemporalForces at the time so this was a huge win for me to be able to grab this artwork for the collection.

A beautifully illustrated Pokemon card, everything from the colour palette to the scared Meowth. Just screams Halloween! 👻 This photo shows a Japanese illustration rare variant of the Pokemon card Gastly. The card is placed against a yellow Ultra Pro card binder and is surrounded by Pokemon game accessories. taken in United Kingdom by @retchly_
