November is a chance to put a little more focus on men’s mental health, the conversations we have and the support we give each other.

But this isn’t just a November conversation.

ReTribe is here all year round, providing a space to connect, share experiences and find support from people who understand.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥 💚

We sat down with our first active ambassador, GB captain Liam Kirk, to hear more about the journey that brought him to where he is today.

In this episode, Liam talks about the role his family has played throughout his hockey career, the support they’ve given him along the way and just how important having the right people in your corner can be.

Behind every player is a person and behind many journeys are people who make the difficult days that little bit easier and the big moments even more special.

There’s plenty more to come from our conversation with Liam. 👀

And don’t forget, you can still bid on Liam’s one-of-one signed Hull Alumni jersey, with all proceeds helping ReTribe continue its work supporting the hockey community.

𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦. 🖤

Three years ago today, Nottingham Panthers forward Adam Johnson tragically lost his life during an Elite League Challenge Cup game.

Adam’s passing was felt throughout the hockey community, bringing players, clubs, fans and the wider hockey family together in grief and remembrance.

Today, we remember Adam and stand alongside everyone whose lives were changed by his loss. Our thoughts remain with his family, friends, teammates and all those who continue to feel his absence.

Hockey is more than a game. It’s a community, a connection and the people who become part of our lives along the way. Today, we hold that community close. 🖤

Here is a reminder of what we do at ReTRIBE, and why we exist at all.
Players tell us time and again that they would rather not raise what is going on with anyone at their own club, whether that is a coach, a teammate or even a friend outside the rink. That is not them being difficult, it is simply human. Most people will never call a helpline or put their hand up in a room full of colleagues, but they will show up for a small group of people they trust.
That space between the official programmes and the next crisis is where ReTRIBE lives. We form small accountability tribes for players, coaches, officials, parents and retired players, and support them with Tough Through Tender, the framework created by Dr Misia Gervis and her team of sports psychologists. We are not here to replace anything clubs and governing bodies already do well. We can do a little more, and we are that little more.
More than 700 players across UK hockey have engaged with us so far, and after meeting our founder, IIHF President Luc Tardif told him, "Nick, you are doing what we are not doing." That one still means a great deal to all of us.
For individuals, the ReTRIBE app is at zero cost to users. For clubs, leagues and organisations who want to put genuine duty of care around their people, we would love to start a conversation, and you will find the links to the app in the website in bio

Social media can be an incredible tool, but it can also become a source of distraction, comparison and noise.

ReTribe app contributor Sam Lyne shares his thoughts on both sides and why it matters what we choose to consume.

That’s part of what makes the ReTribe app different as our feed is built specifically for the hockey community, bringing together useful content, insights and perspectives to support you on and off the ice without the usual distractions.

Download the app today to explore ReTribe and hear more from Sam! 🗣️

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗨𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 💚

We’re genuinely glad there’s a day in the calendar dedicated to mental health and we’ll never knock anything that gets people talking. But after years of working alongside the hockey community, we’ve come to see it a little differently.

Mental health isn’t something that sits off to one side. It’s part of your overall health, just as much as your physical health.

We know the words “mental health” can sometimes make people switch off before a conversation has even started. That’s why we believe in speaking the language of the rink, understanding what’s happening beneath the surface and seeing the person, not just the problem.

Whether it’s pressure, confidence, identity, the end of a career or the weight of everyday life, there’s always more to a person than what we see on the ice.

For us, this goes beyond awareness. It’s about the players showing up for each other, the coaches and officials checking in, the parents learning as they go, and everyone finding the courage to speak honestly alongside those willing to listen.

Real people, sharing real experiences, can make a difference. And you don’t have to face everything alone.

We’ve been doing this work for a long time and we’re not going anywhere. If you or someone in your corner could do with a little extra support, we’re here.

We can do a little more… and we are that little more. 💚

Continuing our conversation with our first active ambassador, GB captain Liam Kirk.

In this episode, Liam looks back at his draft journey from growing up in Sheffield to hearing his name called by the Arizona Coyotes in the 7th round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

There’s plenty more to come from our conversation with Liam. 👀

𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗔 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥. 💚

On the ice, we see the player, but there’s always a person behind the jersey.

Someone dealing with pressure, setbacks, confidence, decisions about what comes next and everything life throws at you when you step away from the rink.

Because hockey can mean everything to you, but it can’t be everything you are.

That’s why ReTribe exists - a place to connect, talk honestly, set goals and have people in your corner not just when things are going well, but when they aren’t.

The ReTribe app is available to everyone at zero cost. If you’re part of the hockey community, there’s a place for you here.📲

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗠 𝗞𝗜𝗥𝗞 𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗢𝗙? 💭

We’re continuing our conversation with our first active ambassador, GB captain Liam Kirk, as he looks back at the dreams he had growing up.

In this episode, Liam talks about what he wanted to achieve as a kid, the players he looked up to and the ambitions that started to shape his journey in hockey.

It’s always interesting to look back and see where the dreams started and where they eventually took you. 👀

Don’t forget, you can still bid on Liam’s one-of-one signed Hull Alumni jersey, with all proceeds helping ReTribe continue its work supporting the hockey community👇

Folks, it's the first of October and the NIHL season is up and running, so this one goes out to every player, coach, official and parent across the league.
This month our Tough Through Tender pillar is Self-Awareness, which is all about noticing the sensations in our body, the feelings that come with them and the stories we build from them, and recognising that we always have a choice in how we respond.
I like to describe the body as a NASA control centre, full of gauges and whistles and valves and warning lights that start flashing whenever life throws something at us. Most of us were never shown how to read that control panel, so the alarms go off and we just react, and anyone who's taken a daft penalty in the third period knows exactly what that looks like. Throughout October we'll be sharing practical tools in the ReTribe app to help you start listening to your body, so you can learn to respond to life rather than react to it.
And here's the bit I really want you to hear. All of this is in the app at zero cost to users, because hockey is expensive enough already. Between skates, sticks, ice time and the petrol to get to the rink at stupid o'clock, nobody needs another bill, so the tools are there for anyone in the hockey family who wants them.
