Happy hump day Haulers!
Tonight’s wonderful eye candy is from Erin @retro_at_480 a fellow Melburnian who’s unflipping her ‘80’s Villa and filling it with retro treasures (that she sometimes sells @afternoon_delight____ )

Scrolling Erin’s grid feels like a super fun game of Snap for me, I’ve discovered we have the same orange knobs, flying ducks, floral tidy bin and yellow mirror. So it’s fair to say I LOVE her style! Check out her fabulous orange laundry makeover and gallery wall of lovely ladies. Not to mention her feline friend who seems to love vintage as much as Erin!

Today’s feature home is a feast of glasswork, vintage crewels and colour. Laura of @thrifters_delight resides in her childhood-friend’s grandparents home, buying it and lovingly decorating it true to its retro roots. The textures, the lighting, the dining set….sublime. I’m buzzing to bring you this incredible MCM home tonight - a new discovery for me.

This stunner in Grand Haven Michigan belongs to Aletha, her husband Greg, their kids and gorgeous fur baby Marsha.

Aletha is Interior designer, an MCM preservationist, top notch thrifter, and lover of pattern, colour and breezeblocks. You can follow her on @aletha_ along with her interiors account @truehomerestorations and her preservation work @midmodmich

She’s a woman after my own heart with her home restoration, embracing colour and pattern and respecting & honoring the original features. There’s a joy to this home along with a gentle restraint - allowing the natural timbers and stone to shine. 10/10 in my eyes. 🤩

Something different from me this week. I’m sharing a wonderful local artist - Betty Jo Designs’, the creation of Melbournian Liz Jones. Her most iconic piece is her map of Aus wall hanging, made from reclaimed vintage lino but you’ll also find placemats, flocks of birds, whimsical frames, caravans, even jewelry made from old knitting needles!

Liz says:
“I am what you would call a gleaner and a dreamer. I love finding unwanted and discarded treasures in thrift shops and neighborhood hard rubbish collections and breathing new life into them.” A woman after my own heart!

She’s a self confessed colour addict and believes there are no rules when it comes to mixing colours and clashing patterns, a “more is more” kind of girl - not a fan of minimalism.

All of Liz’s beautiful work evokes memories. She’s often told by people that a particular piece of lino in her work was the same pattern they remembered from childhood.

After the fabulous reaction to last week’s share, the lovely Erin @farre11kat , I decided to showcase another of my all time favourite collectors on insta, Jon & Nicolette @aquarius_vintage in Edinburgh.

They describe their page as ‘Mid-Century Modern Design for the Aquarian Age’ and have an incredible, very enviable collection of Riihimäki, Whitefriars, Alsterfors, Holmegaard & Bitossi ceramics & glassware… to name just a few.

So many of their pieces are rare and coveted, I’m always blown away with everything they post - the colours, the curation, the passion to collect… it spurs me on to keep adding to my own collections despite having no more room for anything 😆

I absolutely freaking love following other obsessed collectors on here, and one of my all time favorites is the lovely Erin @farre11kat

Erin’s mad for vintage clocks, phones, blenders, kitchen canisters and many other goodies. Her enviable collections are beautifully displayed in colour order and she frequently swaps out one for another - a rotation of retro wonder. And let’s not forget her stunning home these collections live in. She’s got the best eye for interiors.

Erin sells what she can’t keep so check out her other page and you might score a treasure. I was glad to be able to find her a stackable biscuit and cake box here in Aus, shipping it over to the states and I loved seeing it in its new surroundings.

From one crazed collector to another - Erin, we absolutely LOVE your house and account.

Today’s feature home is from our past lovely Hauls host, the creative mind of @marydarlingxoxo . Residing with her husband (and two pooches) in a 1956 time capsule, Mary’s taste for vintage is a gorgeous and vibrant cohesion of 50s, 60s and 70s decor.

Her balance between kitsch and sleek atomic pieces is enviable and I adore her ability to use colour to create interest. Note my sneaky addition of her Christmas tree, not only because it is fabulous but because it is just around the corner and I can almost taste the festive-decorating season….🥲.

Welcome to @atomic_bouffant - the kitschy, colorful world of vintage enthusiast Elena, who shares her Pittsburgh home with her husband & three perfect pusses. 💜💕💚💛

Ever since the early/mid ‘80s, as a young teen, Elena started collecting thrifted bric-a-brac & vintage clothing, after becoming enamoured with everything from past eras.

Elena says, about her relationship with her collections and the thing that attracts her to them, is “the wonderful nostalgia they conjure up, mixed with a love for the visual design aesthetics, as well as the adventurous thrill of the hunt! Not to mention the mechanics of how well things were made. So much of what I love comes from eras when everything was so much more beautifully designed, colorful, and built to last!”

She loves all eras but her heart belongs to the mod, groovy 1960’s as that was the first era she became truly fascinated with, thanks to youthful obsessions with The Monkees TV series, The Beatles, and the era’s groovy aesthetic for style, fashion, art, color, culture, and design.

This is a kitsch-taculos home, quite obviously filled with love and passion. And I completely concur with ‘the thrill of the hunt’ and the philosophy of things being better made and more colourful in the past.
