What do you do when stuck holding on the phone for an absurdly long time? Design a kitchy mid-century guitar, of course. by @retromeh

Holy crap, the bridge install actually worked! Properly aligned and intonated, too. You'd think I knew what I was doing. by @retromeh

Using only materials on-hand, the pickguard was cut from a birch plywood template, originally laser-etched with other guard sizes. The dings around the switch plate were a damn drill mishap. Looking decent with the non-forced wear marks. Sanding and buffing the varnish also removed some ink from the edges. I'm hardly complaining. by @retromeh

First look at my Dano Pro inspired git'r.

I almost abandoned it after I thought I borked routing the neck pocket, royally screwed up the routing for the pickups, and missed the bridge posts target by a mile.

Surprising save, though, as the neck needed to be set deeper. Used pre-cut template birch. Carefully cut the pickguard, after my scroll saw ate the planned retro laminate. Ugh. Then cleaned up the other routing, sanded to 220. Varnish sanded to 400.

It's become a project to answer questions.
- Are the body edge carves comfortable? (Yes. And the heel of the neck/body joint is great.)
- What if I used black ink for the body? (Messy cleaning off the excess, but it worked.)
- What if I hand-painted the satin varnish instead of sprayed? (A test in patience. For a stained wood finish, yes. Solid colour, likely no.)
- How would aged birch plywood look as a pickguard and covers? (On the fence, given the tools I have and no longer having access to a laser cutter.)

Of course the acrylic template slipped during my first router pass of the neck pocket. (Fuck.) But I was lucky with the template being too tight for the prefab neck. Carving/sanding to a snug fit almost removed the slight tear-out.

Subsequent router passes, going deeper, resulted in the most snug fit I've attempted to-date. I can lift the whole walnut slab off the table from it laying flat. Quite the dopamine hit!

Neck pockets are difficult for me, hence starting with it for this git'r. by @retromeh
