Last weekend we headed over to Retro Rides for a weekend full of everything we love about the scene - motorsport history, perfectly imperfect paintwork, period details, engine swaps, race cars and laid-out classics all in one place.

Everywhere you looked there was something different, from immaculate builds to cars wearing decades of history with pride. Exactly the kind of atmosphere we want Retro Rewind to capture.

A modern take on an icon - this build owned by @littlelegocar pays tribute to the original Polo 6N Harlequin, a car that defined individuality in the mid-90s. Factory chaos in the best way, with mismatched panels that somehow worked perfectly together. This one keeps that spirit alive, reimagined for a new generation.

Spotted at BHP Show 2026, and easily one of those cars that stops you in your tracks. A little newer than our usual features, but fully in keeping with the ethos — bold, playful, and unapologetically different.

The Volkswagen Polo Mk2 saloon, seen here at Patina Show 2025, is a reminder of a time when cars were built with simplicity and purpose at their core.

Produced throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, the saloon variant offered a more traditional three-box shape alongside the more familiar hatchback, though far fewer were sold, making them a rarer sight today.

Finished here in a ‘Special Edition’ trim with its period-correct decals and unassuming steel wheels, it reflects an era of honest, no-frills motoring that has largely disappeared from modern roads.
