the math ain’t mathin….

and yes - you could probably thrift it - but think of all the time you spend traveling, digging, searching and sourcing - specially if you look for vintage pieces which are becoming more extinct by the day

the whole narrative behind second hand clothing in general has shifted - from wide spreading information feeding the illusion that it is to become a billion dollar industry. promising a hustle you could turn into an empire. feeding a message that says anyone can do it too - which is simply untrue (it had to be said and I’m not sorry) - but it’s truly not that simple

this has also impacted the entire ecological system in a community that once felt authentic- from the businesses that sell donated goods charging ridiculous prices - (the vintage Balmain scarf was full of stains) - to the untrained budding entrepreneur making it less about curation, vision and whimsy. only to result in the disruption of the market value and less inventory within reach to those who are not yet purchasing in volume. the racks often depleted these days - make the inflated fees all around more palpable and thus it has become yet another sometimes unreasonably inflated market.

moreover - tho se who are given the innate true skill to perform this task - sourcing, curating, collecting, purveying, capturing and even styling vintage treasures for the modern world - as part of their purpose are more frustrated than ever.

my content has been my protection in this season of hermit. I am only sorry you have missed out
