SHERLOCK HOLMES THE GREATEST DETECTIVE
Baker Street Statue By sculpted by John Doubleday and unveiled in 1999.
British sculptor John Doubleday (born 1947) is renowned for creating memorable public monuments of historical and fictional figures.
It was commissioned in 1998 and unveiled in September 1999, the 3-meter-high London bronze sculpture was funded by the Abbey National building society. Their headquarters at the time famously sat on the purported real-world site of 221B Baker Street.
Interestingly, this is not Doubleday's only Holmes sculpture. He previously created another famous statue of Sherlock Holmes located in Meiringen, Switzerland—the town situated right below the Reichenbach Falls where the detective famously fell to his apparent death in "The Final Problem". by @reubenlenkiewicz
