There’s no denying the EF chassis Hondas were the OG of the import street scene. When the JDM lifestyle really took off, it was the EF Hatch and CRX that kickstarted the craze, and both vehicles are still highly regarded and sought after. The EF sedan was also a part of the trifecta of Civics, but the Hatch and CRX were the kings at the time. The only real question was “which one are you taking?”

Sometimes, the car that’s going to break necks isn’t necessarily going to be some million dollar hypercar. Sometimes, it’s the car that didn’t destroy the bank account but has the fingerprints of its builder all over it. @milla_lx was parked across the street from the show she was at, and still had people wandering over to check it out.

“It looks fast just sitting there” is a sentiment many have used throughout time to describe a car that is fast or at least should be fast seen in a parking lot or garage. And while it has been used plenty of times on plenty of different cars, it may have actually been coined first while looking at the FD3S Mazda RX-7.

Known to be one of the most difficult engines to tune (thanks to the Wankel Rotary that has a cult-like following), for those who know the secret ingredients to make it work it becomes one of the baddest engines on the planet. And man does it sound angry.

Getting a decent amount of screen time in one of the most important movie franchises in the world, “Dominic Torreto’s” red rocket was an eye opener for many and helped start a fire within many an enthusiast. Not bad for a car from an era so few current JDM lovers ever got to experience firsthand.

Credit to @pistonzero for building what might be the sickest example of an FD3S we will ever get to see.

We were not fast. We weren’t even quick. Not by today’s standards. But it could be argued that no one had more fun in the driving experience than those gripping the wheel and yanking the shifter of their 90’s JDM hoopties. Sure, the guys in the SN Mustangs and IROC Camaros were louder and could cover the distance faster…in a straight line…than we could, but at the end of the day there wasn’t one JDM enthusiast who parked their ride mad at anything.
