Our 2nd annual Celebrate Diwali event was filled with sunshine! Thank you to @lakeshorearts and @localmrkt for partnering with @reversekarmaco to create such an amazing experience filled with art, vendors, music, and good vibes! I had such a fun time leading the diya painting activity! Special thanks to all the other amazing artists for leading our other activities, the vendors, community sponsors, and the South Etobicoke community. Presented in partnership with @reversekarmaco, and @localmrkt, this event will feature FREE family-friendly activities, along with a small marketplace to help you prepare for Diwali! 🎉 Our second round of artists: ✨Hadia Nusrat @_hennabyhadia is our second henna artist who will be offering henna application to attendees! 🙌🏾 Henna, or mehndi, is a natural body art tradition where intricate patterns are painted onto hands using a paste from henna leaves. 🎨More about the artist: Hadia Nusrat is a first-year university student from Mississauga. Growing up, she found it difficult to find representation of her culture, finding the art of Mendhi has given her the opportunity to always wear a piece of her culture. ✨NSB Entertainment (DJ Nick) will be playing music to keep the good vibes going!🎉 🎶More about the DJ: NSB Entertainment (DJ Nick) @therealnsbent is a DJ and MC from Toronto with over 10 years experience DJing events across the GTA. He is known for blending a variety of musical genres together. 💫 Plus, watch a FREE dance performance from @rapaglobal at 4PM! ✨Rashmi will be presenting a dance performance! 🎊More about the performer: Rashmi Mishra is a renowned dancer, choreographer, and educator specializing in Kathak and Indian folk dance. Presented in partnership with @reversekarmaco , and @localmrkt this event will feature FREE family-friendly activities, along with a small marketplace to help you prepare for Diwali! 🎉 Our first round of artists: ✨Taruna @tarunasinghart will be leading print card-making! 📄 Gelli printing uses a reusable, flexible gel printing plate to create unique, one-of-a-kind prints. 🎨More about the artist: Taruna Singh is an Indian-Canadian mixed media artist based in Oakville, Ontario. Her work combines layered textures, gestural marks, and Indian block print motifs to explore themes of identity, belonging and transformation. ✨Mansi @mleo_art will be offering henna application to attendees! 🙌🏾 Henna, or mehndi, is a natural body art tradition where intricate patterns are painted onto hands using a paste from henna leaves. 🎨More about the artist: Mansi is a skilled Henna artist from India and a proud graduate of Humber College’s Arts program. With over a decade of experience, she has mastered the intricate art of henna, alongside her work in painting and visual effects for film and television. ✨Dayna from Reverse Karma @reversekarmaco will be leading a paint-your-own-diya activity! 🪔Diyas are tiny oil lamps traditionally made of clay, lit during Diwali to symbolize the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil. 🎨More about the artist: Dayna is the founder & artist of Reverse Karma Co.
