Beloved Congregation, Family, Friends, and Community,

Today, I want to personally invite you to join us at Rivers of Living Water UCC at 12:30 PM ET.

We have been carrying a lot, collective grief, personal grief, unexpected loss, and the circumstances of life that do not stop simply because our hearts are heavy. The sudden passing of our beloved Grace DeTrevarah has reminded us again just how precious life is and how important it is that we do not take the gift of community for granted.

Today, we need to be together.

Come as you are. Come with your grief. Come with your questions. Come with your gratitude. Come tired if you are tired. Come hopeful if you are hopeful. Just come.

We will worship together. We will pray together. We will share Holy Communion, and afterward, we will eat together as family and community.

And please don’t come alone. Bring someone with you. Someone you love may need this gathering more than you realize.

In seasons like this, community matters. Presence matters. Love matters.

Today | 12:30 PM ET
Rivers of Living Water UCC

Come to worship.
Come to the Table.
Come eat with us.
Come love on somebody.

There is room for you at Rivers.

Beloved Rivers Family,

As we prepare to gather tomorrow, I am mindful that we are carrying a lot right now.

The sudden passing of our beloved Grace DeTrevarah has touched us deeply. When someone transitions suddenly, there is often no time to prepare our hearts. We are left trying to make sense of what happened while simultaneously trying to hold the weight of the loss. For some of us, Grace’s passing has brought fresh grief. For others, it has awakened grief we were already carrying.

And then there is everything else.

Some among us are caring for aging parents. Some are dealing with health concerns. Some are navigating financial challenges, family matters, relationship changes, disappointments, transitions, and private battles that others may never know about.

So I want to remind us: this is a time to love one another intentionally.

Check on each other. Call somebody. Send the text. Give the hug. Extend a little more grace. Be slower to judge and quicker to love. We never fully know what someone else is carrying.

Tomorrow, I especially want us to be together.

We will gather for worship at 12:30 PM. We will come to the Table for Communion, and afterward, we will sit down and eat together as family.

There is something sacred about gathering when life is heavy. We do not gather because everything is alright. We gather because we need God, and sometimes we experience God most clearly through one another.

I am also asking each of you to bring two people with you tomorrow. Bring someone who needs community. Bring someone who needs encouragement. Bring someone who needs to know there is a place where they can breathe, worship, eat, laugh, cry, and simply be.

In the wake of Grace’s sudden passing, let us not take one another, or the gift of being together, for granted.

Love one another now.
Call one another now.
Show up for one another now.

Tomorrow at 12:30 PM, let’s fill the room with love.

Come to worship. Come to the Table. Come eat together. And bring two people with you.

We need God.
And beloved, we need one another.

With love,

Congregational Announcement

It is with heavy hearts that we share the transition of our beloved Grace DeTrevarah.

We ask the Rivers family to keep Grace’s mother, her family, chosen family, loved ones, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss lifted in prayer.

May God surround them with comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.

Service details will be shared as they become available.

TFAM | In Love and Liberation

The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries joins family, friends, faith community, colleagues, and loved ones in honoring the life, legacy, and spirit of rev/awo lynny duncan — Olosun Oshundayísi Awó Amosun.

rev/awo lynny duncan was part of the TFAM family,a beloved presence whose life embodied courage, authenticity, spiritual depth, justice, and liberation. We give thanks for the ways they showed up in community, challenged us to think more deeply, loved fiercely, and created space for people to live more fully into the truth of who they are.

We invite the TFAM community, particularly those throughout our East Coast Region, to gather with the family for this sacred celebration of life:

Saturday, October 17, 2026 | 12:00 Noon
Schaeffer-Ashmead Memorial Chapel
United Lutheran Seminary
7301 Germantown Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19119

Virtual participation via Zoom will also be welcomed.

In keeping with the beautiful and vibrant spirit of rev/awo lynny, bright colors, sequins, glitter, and joyous self-expression are lovingly encouraged.

We continue to hold Sarah, the children, family, chosen family, and all who loved rev/awo lynny in our prayers. May we honor their memory not only in how we gather, but in how we continue the work of building communities where every person can live, love, worship, and flourish freely.

We remember. We celebrate. We carry the legacy forward.

In Love and Liberation,
The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries (TFAM)

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Bishop Troy! ❤️

I can only imagine what you would have had planned for today! By now, you would have already informed me of all the shenanigans, the rest, the fun, and whatever else you had up your sleeve. And, of course, you would have extended the invitation for me to come along!

That was you, Bishop Troy. You knew how to work hard, love deeply, laugh loudly, and make room for the people you loved to enjoy life with you.

Today, I am remembering your laughter, your friendship, your presence, and all the moments that made knowing you such a gift. I wish we could have one more conversation, one more laugh, and one more invitation to join you in whatever adventure you had planned.

You are missed, my brother. Your memory remains a blessing, and your love continues to live in the hearts of those of us who were fortunate enough to share this journey with you.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Bishop Lavor Troy Sanders. I know the celebration in heaven must be something else, and I am certain you have found a way to be right in the middle of it all! ❤️🕊️ by @revnessa

My prayer is that this new year of life brings you abundant joy, good health, peace, prosperity, and opportunities beyond anything you could have imagined. May God continue to order your steps, protect you from what you cannot see, and open doors that no one can close.

Never forget how deeply you are loved and how much greatness is still ahead of you. Keep growing, keep believing, and keep becoming everything God created you to be.
