💚 Hello! Who Am I? 💚

I'm Gemma and I'm the founder of ReWild Gower CIC.
I am a Conservation Biologist, Forest School Leader and an Advanced Wilderness Therapy practitioner 🌱

I am also a trained yoga teacher and ayurvedic therapist, specialising in mindfulness and nidra.

My background is two fold- wellness for our bodies and minds, and wellness for our land and environment.

I feel it's important to understand that these two things cannot exist separately; to be healthy, we must live in a healthy environment.

For us to have the skills, wisdom and energy to care for the environment, we must first be well ourselves.

We are inextricably linked to our natural world and dependent upon it for our wellbeing on all levels- for survival, and for physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO AT CREATIVE ROOTS 🌿

At the start of each term, we ask the children in our Home Ed and flexi-school sessions what they’d like to learn, explore or do more of.

This term, there was a pretty clear answer: more whittling and woodwork.

We already have some basic skills in this area, but we could see the children were ready to take things further and wanted more knowledge than we could confidently offer on our own.

So, in a few weeks’ time, we’re really pleased to be welcoming Emlyn Hinton, an experienced whittler and carpenter, to spend the day with us. He’ll help the children plan their ideas, develop their skills and bring their own woodwork projects to life.

Being child-led doesn’t mean having all the answers. As Forest School leaders, part of our role is to notice where the children’s interests are leading, recognise when they’re ready for more, and bring in people with the right experience to help them take that next step.
We can’t wait to see what they create.

SAVE THE DATE 🌿

Our next Wild Women’s Weekend is happening 4–6 June 2027 at the beautiful Coed Hills Rural Art Space in the Vale of Glamorgan.

A whole weekend to slow down, reconnect and spend time in nature, with yoga, forest bathing, mindfulness, creative activities, sauna, cold plunge, wholesome food and plenty of space to simply be.

After such a special weekend last time, we can’t wait to do it all again.

Birthday Parties in the Woods! 🌲🎂

Did you know we offer birthday parties in the woods?

Our forest school site is the perfect place to celebrate, with woodland play, mud kitchen fun, tree nets and swings, and of course singing Happy Birthday together around the fire 🔥

Parties are relaxed, nature-filled and full of adventure, and we can tailor them for a range of ages. We can also provide a woodland themed birthday cake, environmentally friendly party bags and camp fire snacks too!

✨ We have party slots available in October & November ✨

Join us this October half term for autumnal woodland adventures at ReWild Gower.

If your child loves being outdoors, getting muddy, making things, exploring and learning about wildlife, we’d love to have them join us. Here’s what we’ve got coming up:

9:30am–3:30pm
£35 per day / £25 for additional siblings

🍁 MINI WILD ADVENTURERS HOLIDAY CLUB
Ages 5–7
Friday 30th October
10:30am–2:30pm
£35 per day / £25 for additional siblings

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS CRAFT FOREST SCHOOL

Give the children a festive morning in the woods while you get a few Christmas jobs done, or simply enjoy three quiet hours to yourself.

These are proper ReWild Forest School sessions with a Christmas twist, with plenty of free woodland play, exploring, campfire time and getting muddy, alongside a natural Christmas craft to make and take home.

There’ll also be hot chocolate, marshmallow toasting, Christmas lights, music and lots of festive woodland fun.

Sunday 29 November | 10am–1pm
Sunday 6 December | 10am–1pm
Saturday 12 December | 10am–1pm
Sunday 13 December | 10am–1pm

£25 per child

Three-hour drop-off sessions with two Forest School leaders. All craft materials and campfire treats are included.

Children should come dressed warmly and ready for the weather.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING IN THE WOODS

Join us at ReWild Gower for a cosy Christmas morning in the woodland, making your own festive wreath around the campfire.

On Saturday 5 December, from 10am–12:30pm, we’ll have seasonal greenery, natural decorations and everything you need to create a beautiful wreath to take home.

Expect twinkling lights through the trees, hot chocolate, marshmallow toasting, Christmas music and plenty of festive woodland atmosphere.

Tickets are £25 per wreath-maker. Adults helping a child do not need a ticket unless they’d like to make their own wreath too.

Wrap up warm, pull on your wellies and come and enjoy a little Christmas magic in the woods.

CHRISTMAS IN THE WOODS AT REWILD GOWER

Join us in the woods this festive season for one of our adult Christmas wreath-making workshops.

You’ll be guided through making your own full-sized Christmas wreath to take home, with all tuition and materials included.

Our evening workshops will be lit by fairy lights in the trees and campfire glow, with mulled wine, warm mince pies and Christmas choir music creating a proper festive atmosphere.

Our daytime workshop will have all the same woodland Christmas magic, with warm mulled apple cider (non alcohol) instead of mulled wine.

Saturday 28th November | 2:00–4:30pm
Friday 4th December | 7:00-9:30pm
Saturday 5th December | 2:00–4:30pm
Friday 11th December | 7:00–9:30pm

£45 per person
Maximum 12 people per workshop

On Saturday we had the pleasure of presenting some of our Creative Roots participants with their John Muir Awards. 🌿

Creative Roots is our Home Ed and Flexi School group, giving children the chance to spend a full day each week learning, creating and exploring outdoors.

ReWild Gower is a registered @johnmuirtrust award provider, and through Creative Roots our participants have the opportunity to work towards the award as part of their time with us.

The John Muir Award encourages children and young people to discover wild places, explore them, take action to care for them and share what they’ve learned along the way.

Our participants have been working really hard towards their awards, building their knowledge and connection with the natural world through everything they do at Creative Roots.

We’re so proud of what they’ve achieved and it was lovely to be able to celebrate with them. A huge well done to you all! 🍂

Help us shape a new community woodland project at ReWild Gower

We’re developing an idea for a new project bringing adults together in our woodland to spend time outdoors, learn practical skills, connect with nature and meet other people.

We’re particularly interested in how a project like this could support people experiencing isolation, poor wellbeing or barriers to getting involved in community activities.

Before we apply for funding, we want to make sure we’re creating something that people genuinely want and would find useful.
