Rex Hayes @rexlhayes has spent years following instinct wherever it leads. From growing up Welsh-speaking and discovering performance through the Eisteddfod, to music and theatre, that path has now brought them to a defining new chapter: their new role in Ted Lasso. It’s the kind of moment that feels both unexpected and entirely earned, placing Rex at the beginning of what could be a very different kind of career.

But the excitement isn’t just in the leap to screen. Rex approaches acting with the same curiosity that has carried them this far: trusting the writing, working collaboratively, and leaving room for the unexpected. They don’t seem interested in forcing a moment into existence. They’d rather follow it when it arrives. Sometimes, they say, it feels like kismet.

Aisling and I made a Twins playlist in July 2025 when we were in bootcamp and I manifested Parting Glass for real. Here’s us rehearsing that song with a honking cold, amongst some other bits and peoples who made this what it was. The kid at the end of the carousel is still doing the thumbs up, and also can’t BELIEVE their luck.

thank you for joining us on the bus ride. all episodes of Ted Lasso available to stream now on @appletv by @rexlhayes
