It is day 1 at the @eurobike_show, the doors are open, the crowds are shuffling in and the energy is high.🚴 This year Reynolds celebrates the 30-year anniversary of 853, our premium grade of ferrous steel. 853 is renowned for producing light, stiff, yet supple frames. It offers our customers an improved combination of technical properties, workability, weldability, quality and cost-effectiveness in comparison to other materials.

With the launch of the Strael 4.0 back in February, we wanted to create a little video to showcase how collaboration is the key to creating new and exciting innovation for the future. And for this project, 853 was a huge part of that! We have been working closely with @fairlightcycles since they started and this is the culmination of all those years of effort. Dom Thomas wanted to push the boundaries of what you can achieve with a steel bike, and our mission was to help him achieve it. 15% weight saving with no loss of stiffness, comfort or performance. 💪

We imagine you’re getting bombarded with #blackfriday posts and offers right now?

Like our tubing, we believe our soft goods stand the test of time and represent good value all year round.

Everything is produced in small batches using UK or European manufacturers, where possible, with all the good stuff like organic cotton and Fair Wear foundation factories and recyclable packaging. That means less waste, good wages and being kind to the environment. The bad news is we very rarely have sales… and once a product is gone we’ll likely replace it with something different!

Our new 531 capsule collection was inspired by the Reynolds TI vintage race kit of the 60s, including a cycle cap made in Europe by our friends at @bellocyclist and organic cotton unisex t-shirt screen printed and hand finished here in the UK.

We are the largest customer of @reynoldstechnology and work closely with them on the development of our tubing. We are proud that all of their steel tubing is made from 100% recycled material.

Some more exotic materials rely on specialist recycling processes and networks that are difficult to access.

Steel recycling is already well established. The infrastructure may not be very sexy, but it is everywhere.

Most towns have a recycling centre. If a man drives down your road ringing a bell, you might even be able to leave it outside your front door. In fact, you would have to try quite hard for it not to be recycled. A few weeks later, it could exist as something else.

It is estimated that around 85% of steel is recycled at the end of its life. It can then be recycled again and again without losing its inherent properties.

Steel does not just last. It comes back. by @reynoldstechnology

Now built up and being shredded this one came out so nice for @3stylebilly

Built with @reynoldstechnology 631 main tubes, T45 straight guage stays with TJD caps and wishbone chainstays.
I gave this a phosphate darkened steel finish with masked off downtube graphic to leave raw steel and the stainless 312 weld filler really stands out.

Leaving the frame shop this week a lugless Reynolds 853 road fixed frame in a beautiful tricolore fade.

Beyond the striking colourway, details include a hand cut bilaminate seat tube lug, chromed track ends and a chromed straight blade fork.

Finished off with a lovely shiny Velo Orange headset courtesy of Freshtripe.
