09/28/2026 - Continuing the figurative series - "Figure - Standing Nude Verso 2" 2010 (oil on painting paper; 11"x6.25"). Another impasto-rich expression of the human form...still channeling the great figurative painters of the past. As I continue to embrace more fully the act of painting on a regular basis, the human form offers a compelling subject matter for my eye. More to come.

09/24/2026 - Continuing the figurative series - "Figure - Standing Nude Verso 1" 2010 (oil on painting paper; 11"x6.25"). Obviously, quickly rendered and showing my pure and unadulterated joy in the act of painting...and continuing interest in rendering the human form (a nod to the great many works by the Bay Area Figurative painters - love all of their work (Park, Diebenkorn, Wonner, Bishoff, Brown, Olivera, Weeks and others)).

09/23/2026 - More figurative work - "Figure - Back of Head 2" 2010 (14"x10.5"; oil on painting paper). Another piece from my Corcoran School night class...my professor telling me "Bob, you need five canvases to work off of simultaneously because you create and destroy and create again with such pace, energy and directness." Never forgotten that comment.

09/22/2026 - Continuing the figurative series - "Figure - Back of Head" 2010 (oil on canvas; 12"x12"; framed). One in a series of paintings executed during a 6-week, one-evening-a-week painting class I took in 2010 at The Corcoran School of Art here in DC. With two young children at home at the time, there was scant little room (literally and figuratively) for painting. Clearly, I enjoyed myself to the utmost.

This is another from a bygone era -- post-undergrad, painting in an outdoor studio in Los Angeles (Pasadena) while working at Curatorial Assistance w/ Graham Howe and the team. Painting large scale is just so freeing; I look forward to using this scale again as I continue to return to picture making. by @rgburrowsart
