GANGA TO KAVERI – connecting rivers through dance
16 March Sunday, 19H Museu do Oreinte

Join us in celebrating the 50 years of India – Portugal bilateral relations with an extraordinary and unique artistic experience—Ganga to Kaveri: Connecting Rivers through Indian Classical Dance. This exceptional performance is a profound journey through India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, expressed through the captivating language of different Indian Classical Dance forms – Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Odissi.

The performance invites you to embark on a river-rafting experience, as you travel along three of India’s most revered and sacred rivers—Ganga, Brahmaputra, and Kaveri—each symbolizing distinct aspects of life, spirituality, and nature. These rivers have been central to Indian culture and mythology for millennia, and through dance, they are brought to life in a deeply evocative way. @ishartes

My dear friend Lajja Sambhavnath and her students from Isha Artes, the association of arts and culture we founded in 2016, delivered an outstanding performance of Kathak that left the audience overwhelmed by their dedication and artistry. She cultivated a remarkable blend of traditional and contemporary elements in her choreography, allowing each dancer to shine while showcasing intricate footwork and expressive storytelling. The synchronization among the dancers, enhanced by innovative use of light and space, created a mesmerizing visual experience. The audience praised the seamless transitions and emotional depth of the performance, highlighting the exceptional skill and commitment that Lajja and her students have poured into their craft over the years. Thank you HE Ambassador of India Mr. Puneet Kundal and HOC Ms. Asha and other embassy staff for the presence and support. @indiainportugal @puneet.kundal taken in Biblioteca Municipal Orlando Ribeiro by @rgvaguela
