See it here how the shell marbled pattern is made with acrylics! Marbling instructor @rhashby demonstrates acrylic shell pattern in our recent Intermediate Marbling class. Experienced marblers will gather here next September for Advanced Marbling workshop and Tigers Eye Intensive with @rhashby . Robin Ashby developed the paint mixture that allows shell pattern to form with acrylic pigments. Prior to his research, the shell pattern could only be created with watercolor pigments, and most marblers these days prefer to work with acrylics over any other type of pigment. Acrylic shell is but one pattern developed by this master marbling innovator. by @rhashby

Day 1 of Intermediate marbling at the School for Bookbinding Arts is in the books!

Moving on to day 2 and Acrylic Shell along with overmarbling underpainted marbled papers 🤔

As an instructor it is a joy watching students learn and discover this mysteriously sublime art.
