last one of the birthday series

this is the alampay🇵🇭

“A rectangular piece of fabric that is draped over the shoulders and tied at the front features a style of Filipiniana top. It is worn for formal and festive occasions, such as weddings, balls, and ceremonies. The advantage of this style is that it is easy to wear and adjust, and it can cover the arms and the chest.“ -The Budgetarian Bride

part 2 of birthday photoshoot🎂

this one is called the filipiniana bolero

“This is a style of Filipiniana top that features a short jacket that covers the upper part of the body. Cotton, linen, or organza usually make it, and floral prints, burda, or patches adorn it. The advantage of this style is that it is cute and playful, and it can add some color and contrast to the Filipiniana attire.“ - The Budgetarian Bride

for my birthday, i decided i wanted to do a photoshoot wearing traditional filipino clothing🎂

fun fact: i took an ancestry test and i am 99.97% filipino 🇵🇭

so here i am trying to educate myself on all things philippines and i’ll bring you along with me.

*disclaimer: i don’t know the proper way to wrap this LOL i just did something and thought it looked good so if this is wrong, give me some grace haha

traditional wear for women in the philippines is called filipiniana. this one specifically is called a wrap-around alampay.

“A rectangular piece of fabric that is wrapped around the body and tied at the side features a variation of the alampay called Wrap-around Alampay. It is worn for semi-formal and casual occasions, such as parties, reunions, and picnics. The advantage of this style is that it is comfortable and versatile, and it can create a flattering waistline.“ -The Budgetarian Bride
