“Action Jackson” Words don’t do this one justice. Last year I passed what would’ve been my biggest buck to date, confident he’d make it another year. By late July, I realized he didn’t. With August creeping in and cameras being dead, I refused to accept not having a target opening day. I hopped in the truck and hit every single road, glassed every field I could, and knocked doors looking for SOMETHING. I’d driven past this field countless times with zero attention paid because it was always loaded with does. Then, on what felt like my final pass, I laid eyes on this joker. I was told I’d never get permission, but watching him over the next few days ate me alive. I finally went and spoke to the landowner and I got the green light. Although my options of approach were limited. I refused to push into the woods and disrupt his routine, so my best chance was climbing into a sinkhole in a horse pasture he favored every evening. Day 1 — Nothing. He no showed after 20+ days straight. I thought maybe this was due to him shedding velvet. Come to find out it was indeed not! Day 2 — After overnight storms, he stepped out and bedded like normal, but stayed there until dark. No shot. Day 3 — He came barreling out of the woods straight toward me, walked a B-line in, and BEDDED AT 30 YARDS. I couldn’t believe it! After an hour-long standoff, he finally stood. I came to full draw, he stepped right heading out of sight, and I let it fly. He ran 30 yards and bedded back down. Eventually he got up, made it down the hill, and we found him piled up behind the SAME barn I’d glassed him from all month. I love hunting in general and how I pulled this off I have no idea, but I EAT, SLEEP, AND BREATHE WHITETAILS, BABY. On to the next! #BR taken in Kentucky by @rheece

Batter up Cameras are a HUGE aid in helping find a target to go after, or even the one you’re looking for. That being said, it’s still only a fraction of the knowledge that real-time scouting can give. I say all that to say, get out there! #BR by @rheece
