My littlest love with a lion heart

You came into our life suddenly and unexpectedly one night and you went out the same way.

It’s with a very heavy sadness that I’m writing that our little prince was laid to eternal rest on Friday afternoon after complications with his heart.

Originally I was not going to make this post, as not for a vote of sympathy, but I would feel it a disservice to not honor the great joy and love he brought to our lives.

I’ll miss the way you would barge through the bedroom door head first to announce yourself and the way you would curl up every night on my pillow, tucking your little face into the space below my left ear.
I’ll miss the sound of you being startled from slumber and the way you would stretch out over my right shoulder every time I would pick you up.
I’ll miss the chicken legs, belly kisses, and games of hide and seek. The days of contentment, sleeping soundly beside one another as it rained outside.

I’ll never stop loving you and I’ll wish for eternity that I had more days where you were still here to be loved by me.

You were my sunrise and sunset.

You were handed to me as a kitten in a bodega, after being found by a stranger on the BQE and I can only hope you’ve travelled somewhere now where you are free of any pain or suffering.

I hope you know you were loved beyond words.

I’ll be seeing you. by @rhianmaree_
