Birds and beavers from a wild weekend at @boothbywildland_

A huge, huge thank you to @boothbywildland_ @nattergal_ltd @katianasaleiko and @lizziedalyevolved for organising

A demo of bird ringing from the experts @boothbywildland_
Birds are caught very briefly, a tiny little ring added to their leg with a unique ID and then measurements taken. It’s a crucial process, carried out only by licensed ringers, which gives us data on bird populations and migrations.

Wild bird populations have declined in the UK by almost 20% over the past 50 years. By ringing birds we can see which populations are struggling and then look to work out why.

After a bird’s been ringed, they’re released back into the sky to carry on their journey.

Through the clouds in the monasteries of Meteora, Greece. Meaning elevated or ‘suspended in the air’, Meteora is home to six still functioning monasteries, each perched in gravity defying spots on the sandstone pillars, dating back centuries.

An extra big thanks goes out to @meteoraphototour for giving me a feel of the history of the area and their guidance in getting me to the best spots. Highly recommend them if you’re planning a trip to Meteora!

Some pre-flight checks with this little guy.

I was lucky enough to get to spend some time hanging out with some of my favourite Argyll residents this week- the Atlantic Puffin.

Although they spend most of their lives out at sea, these little seabirds burrow into the edge of the cliffs surrounding Lunga from April to August to breed and let their chicks (called pufflings) hatch.

Taking the scenic route in Switzerland.🇨🇭
Capturing the light reflecting off of the mist in this Swiss valley while hanging out of the window of a moving train was a masterclass in camera control (and balance for that matter).

Autumn meets winter in Sakrisøya 🏔️ by @rhiannondemps

Mosques, madrasas and minarets from Uzbekistan earlier this year.

I usually come back from trips with journals stuffed with ticket stubs, maps, and random little keepsakes- I love flipping through those pages later. But most of the time it ends up sitting on a shelf. So this time, I thought I’d try something different: a digital journal

Wintery conditions in Svolvaer, Norway gave way to a small burst of sun which brought the landscape to life. I wanted to capture the light while keeping the feeling of isolation and the severity of the landscape.

There’s a magic in photography when you’re able to convey the mood of a location or experience in a single shot. It brings the viewer into the moment with you and it’s something I’m always aiming for with each image.

The city of Bukhara comes into its own at night.
As the heat cools and the tourists clear, the city slows down. Cats lounge around the ancient madrasas, kids perform to music in the main square as onlookers sing and clap along, card games take place between old friends in the nooks of historic buildings.
