The federal government has proposed to reverse rule 36 CFR part 212 which has limited development and roads in National Forests for over 20 years. The current administration's intent behind reversing the rule is to allow for significantly more logging and private development. These short term "gains" would have devastating long term impacts on communities that rely on outdoor recreation within the National Forests, not to mention the negative effects on habitats and ecosystems. I met @snowmakesmewet on the first day of college when he brazenly walked up to me at a lunch table and said "how you doin?". Now we've been married for TWENTY (2 0) YEARS! He is my best friend, partner, husband, adventure and concert buddy as well as self-declared biggest fan. Whew what a journey so far! If we can make it 20, we can make it 21!

It is 1/04/24 and today I turned 44 (wtf). So I went into the woods; that is where I process and reflect. I listened to the wind in the pine needles and to the trees creaking while they swayed. The sun shone on my face for the first time in weeks (it has been so gray), and I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you Nature.

And thank you @snowmakesmewet for making me feel special.

I go mounting biking when the trail conditions this year have allowed. I go mountain biking because I want to get better at it and because I need a good workout. I go mounting biking when I want to trust that this trail was not built to hurt me, that my husband is not trying to kill me and that my bike can handle anything. I go mountain biking when I want to feel younger and stronger, and when I need to remember that I am badass. And usually I forget to take photos, because I'm busy doing all those things. So here is a photo from our campsite instead.
