So proud of Duchess at the VHC jumper derby last weekend. Two firsts and a second to get champion in the Novice division! 🥇🏆

Perfect D around the BN at @_cdcta_ ! Still putting the pieces together on the flat but she felt so game out XC!

Delayed update from the VHC starter trials with both girls last week.

Razz was thrilled to be back out in the starter (her very first!) for the first time in nearly 2 years! She felt awesome and I ended the day smiling and on our dressage score.

Duchess had a bit of a hard day to start, dressage warm up was good but she had a hard time seeing her friends by the trailer from the ring. Her showjump was fantastic (despite her jockey not hearing the buzzer 🤪) and she was uncharacteristically lacking braveness on XC. Regardless, we finished on a number and she’s already back to feeling her normal self.

Duchie outdid herself in the Star City H/J show today. I only did 2 jump classes and a hunter trip. The jumper rounds were awesome showing greenness on MY part (sorry D, it’s been a little since I put the jumps up) but she jumped fantastically. Our hunter round was a bit terrible because I had 0 breaks😅, but it was all in good fun!

Phone-in-pocket ride along through a little grid with D and I! Working on keeping our jumps less explosive 😜

Miss D showing those Virginia hills who’s boss. Not many green beans who handle this terrain with such balance and confidence, so excited for her future 🥰🤩

We had a super educational time at the VHC starter trials this past weekend. We spent the night so miss Duchess could get a taste of the big horse show atmosphere and she really wasn’t bothered by the noisy and busy barns at all!!! She spent most of her time in the stall sleeping 😴. Dressage was a bit tense as she was right above the big hunter ring (there were quite a few fancy hunters cantering around in a flat class that were arguably very pretty and interesting so I don’t blame her) but she tried really hard to pay attention and I am thrilled with her commitment to listening. The relaxation will definitely come in time 🥰.

Stadium happened in the absolute pouring rain, we had one greenie rail but I was so happy with her confidence even while her and everything else was soaking wet.

After getting on for XC there was a lightning delay and I had to dismount and wait around for a bit. She was a bit irritated and confused (understandably) but got right back into the game when the all clear was given. She absolutely stormed around the XC feeling super confident! A little wiggly at times but was a super listener!!

She ended in 5th in a very competitive starter division. So so proud ☺️☺️☺️
