Photos from performances of The Striving Spirit across 2024, a pretty surreal journey to look back on. The work was first shared in a preview concert at Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before being performed at NSW Parliament: the public premiere at the Open House event on 25 August 2024, and again at the Bicentenary Exhibition Launch on 20 October 2024. NSW Parliament has also shared a short documentary titled The Making of “Reflect, Celebrate, Imagine”, featuring interviews about the Bicentenary music commission, including some of my reflections on the ideas and inspirations behind The Striving Spirit. Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to be commissioned by NSW Parliament to compose music for the Bicentenary of the NSW Legislative Council The Striving Spirit is my original composition for string orchestra & percussion, performed by students of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, premiered at NSW Parliament, and recorded at Trackdown Studios.
