Standing on New Testament ground.
[Cappadocia, Türkiye 07-2026]

Cappadocians were present at Pentecost [Acts 2:9], later written to by Peter as scattered exiles [1 Peter 1:1].

Believers carved entire cities into volcanic rock. churches, monasteries, underground communities to survive persecution.

All that remains now is a record of people who wouldn’t let the faith die quietly. Sad to see it in ruins today but it’s a reminder that church was never a location, it’s the people. Greek: ἐκκλησία (ekklēsia) “called-out assembly.”

The Real Surrender Experiment - I spent most of my life striving and building. But towards what? I never really had a decent answer, neither did many around me. A lot of the people I looked up to, I could sense a deep internal emptiness trying to be filled. And I followed right into it.
Every achievement, every milestone, never satisfied. So I kept striving. You only live once. Follow your heart. No inherent meaning, no rules. And for a while, that worked. But it was a counterfeit freedom. Not rooted in anything real.
I did all the; therapy, breathwork, yoga, meditation, energy healing. Peace for a moment. But never deeply fulfilled.
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
A friend said there’s a lot of philosophy in the Bible. I was skeptical. Not interested in religion, the wars, the scandals, the corruption. But if there was something practical in a 3,500 year old book, I was willing to look.
I went in looking for philosophy. I came out with a relationship with God.
A moment surrendered. Actually surrendered. Not halfway. Just gave it up. And something shifted.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Surrender isn’t weakness. It’s courage to admit my way isn’t working and something greater might actually know better.
The Israelites had an eleven day path to the Promised Land. They spent 40 years in the wilderness instead. Same destination. Because they wouldn’t let go. But God never left their side.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
The most significant shift in my life didn’t come from a new strategy. A better routine. A smarter plan. It came from letting go.
I didn’t expect the way of Christ to have any real impact on my life. And yet it’s been the most significant thing thus far. Not because I had it figured out. But because I finally stopped carrying what was never mine to carry.
