“no more i love yous..”
The idea came to me while on a phone call as I was stacking bears I had in the studio. Soft toys hold moments in time for relationships, adventures, birth and even death.. You hold on to them for a period of time and then they’re given away to become someone else’s moment in time. One of the toys in this sculpture had a voice box in the hand which had a little girls voice that said “I miss you daddy” which broke my heart.. what Dad would give that away? What story does this monkey have to tell? Maybe I’ve watched too much Toy Story but everyone has a toy they’ve held close to them at some point in their life that they may still have or have given away / lost or even sold.
The sculpture is on show with @tingtingartspace at Art Solo @arttaipei . The team have done a fantastic job putting all of my work together. It stands 165cm tall.. careful not to knock them over.. it took them ages to stack them that high.

Yeah yeah, I’ve been quiet.
I’ve been anxious and not great physically.
Started losing weight and eating better. Less cookies and Red Bull and more fruit, veg and water.

Behind me is a very late commission I made for a very patient client who loves Snoopy! I wanted to make something bold but classy. Inspired by my days of competitive arcade claw machine winnings (mostly losing) in seaside towns across the south coast, from Great Yarmouth to Margate. I wanted to capture the feeling of euphoria and upset you feel from seeing the prized plushie drop into the box, or back among its friends.

I wanted the work to be displayed in a corner of a room to give you the feeling that you are within the machine. The concept is inspired by the works of the great Ellsworth Kelly. @ellsworthkellystudio

I’m excited to announce my solo show at @ailegallery_official “The cool kids are always late” opens on the 2nd of September in Seoul, South Korea!
I will be there for the opening and can’t wait to meet everyone that is coming to the show!

This painting is called “Nothing hurts anymore” which is an intimate reflection of dealing with a chronic illness and depression.

Literally can’t wait to be in Seoul! I’ve wanted to visit South Korea since I was a kid! ❤️

Overwhelmed with life..

I’ve been quiet recently, working on getting better, finishing big projects, and spending time out of the studio.

My heart is fine, it turns out. However, it’s actually my arthritis causing a ton of pain in that area, which has been making me panic and sending my heart crazy haha. Also, it turns out I have ADHD… I think anyone who knows me could’ve told me that, but it’s nice to know my overthinking, procrastination, and depression are at least somewhat normal.

I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed with all the messages and trying to get back to everyone, to the point where I’ve been avoiding Instagram as a whole. By the time I’ve responded to 40 people, I already have 30 more replies, which is great! However, it feels like an endless list of things I need to do. I promise I will get back to you as soon as I can.

The photos were done for the promo of my new shirt with Teddy Fresh. They ended up not using them, but whatever I thought they were funny.

Lots of amazing projects are finally coming to an end, and I can finally post about them. I can’t wait! 🧸 by @rhysmbrown
