I’ve been in relationships since I was 15, all the way into my 30s.

For most of my life, romantic relationships weren’t just something I wanted, they became something I felt like I needed. I was groomed at an early age, and I think that taught me very young to connect love, attention, and my worth with being wanted or needed by someone else.

So I became used to always being somebody’s girlfriend, somebody’s person, somebody’s emotional support, somebody’s everything.

Now I’m learning what it feels like to just be mine and to center God instead.

I still believe in love. I still want partnership. I’m just no longer making romantic love the center of my life.

My friendships matter. My family matters. My relationship with God matters. My goals, my peace, my career, my experiences, my home, and the relationship I have with myself all matter too.

Decentering romantic relationships doesn’t mean I’ve given up on love. It means I’m finally learning that my life doesn’t begin when someone chooses me.

I can desire love without organizing my entire existence around finding it, keeping it, or being needed by it.

For the first time, I’m learning how to build a life that already feels whole and letting love be an addition to it, not the foundation. 🤍✨

How I built unshakable confidence (the version nobody talks about):

1. I stopped chasing people who could walk away from me without explanation.
After being ghosted and left wondering what I did wrong, I had to face the truth, closure isn’t always given, it’s something you give yourself. I learned that my worth isn’t tied to who stays, but to how I show up for myself when they leave.

2. I learned to sit with myself instead of numbing out.
I used to rely on distractions! Even something as small as needing a shot before stepping into my power. Now I breathe through the nerves, I meditate, I feel everything fully. Confidence hit different when it’s real and not borrowed.

3. I took my healing and my peace seriously.
Stress was showing up in my body, in my health, in my energy. I had to start choosing myself daily. eating better, slowing down, checking in with myself, and not abandoning me just because life felt overwhelming.

4. I let go of what drained me, even when it hurt.
Whether it was relationships, jobs that didn’t align, or situations that left me exhausted… I stopped forcing what wasn’t choosing me. Letting go didn’t make me weak, it made space for me to become stronger.

5. I kept showing up, even when life tried to humble me.
Losing jobs, taking pay cuts, feeling unsure about my next move… I didn’t give up on myself. I’m still building, still growing, still choosing faith over fear. That’s where my confidence comes from, not perfection, but resilience.

This kind of confidence?
It can’t be shaken, because it was built through everything that tried to break me.
